|
|
| I thought I would get an early jump and book a room for this November's Bulli Brigade. I called the Masters Inn today and was informed that the Hotel will be closed as of June 1st to be torn down to build a Strip Mall. Has a decision been made yet on where the Headquarters Hotel will be this year? |

I say we just rock on in the construction site!
You could barely get a clean shower or take a nice dump in the master's, anyway.... _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

would it be possible that the crowd would want to drive towards the water and party in a downtown w/nitelife also then drive to the show in the morning.bugjam really is a must show just cause it is the thing to do,but really is there a reason to rush there.everyone has already been to the better show by that point.i was asking kris what he thought about this already.what do you think?by the way it would take about 20 minutes more each way, especially at that time in the morning _________________ www.blastserv.com

I'm liking this line of thinking.
The campground at Honeymoon Island springs to mind.

the only reason to get to bugjam early is to get a good swap spot. yes the masters inn needs to be torn down. the last time i was there, i slept in my sleeping bag to the sound of dripping water. it was the first year i really noticed what a dump the place is. previous years i was too tired to care. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

There are other hotels right there at the same exit, why not just move to one of those?
Camping right at the show site for bugjam would be nice also if we could get them to let us do it. _________________ OGJHC

its a total dump! and they are uppity on top of it!
the whole caravan thing leads you in that direction anyways, so thats the primary reason to go there. its definently more than 20 mins to come back our way though. more like an hour, and thats not 36hp time either.
looking on www.pascobugjam.com, it shows the "host hotel" to be in zephryhills. this is about 12 miles east of the current location on SR54.
i am not sure that one hotel can handle everyone, so it seems to me to be a roll of the dice to go for just "the show hotel", or just book one of the hotels near where the masters inn is/was. i am leaning towards the latter, with a possible cruise over to the show hotel post dinner. thats one of the reasons to stay in the old area - proximity to outback steakhouse.
thoughts? |

are there swap spots you did not walk by because they were bad?its just a thought.instead of every out of towner just seeing the crappy sights i figured they would at least like to see the better side of the county.exits and highways are not what i would call sights. _________________ www.blastserv.com

I hear that. Outback is a tradition. It doesn't really matter where you stay now; The master's inn "experience" will never be duplicated. I can't see any other hotel allowing mofos to get jiggy in the parking lot. |

I drive by this place every morning after dropping my kids off at school. It is very close to Reeves. It at the corner of Fowler and I-275. See attachement.

Wish we would have known this last year.........we could have started the demolition early! I'm still leaning towards getting the suite at the hotel behind the Masters like the last 2 years. But if there is consensus as to a different locale, that's cool too. I'm just there for the dubs, friends, and of course BEER!
I like J DOTS idea.............just roll up and start setting up camp aropund all of the bulldozers, backhoes and such. _________________ My '66 RHD Japanese bug build..which has stalled!

Whatever we decide, all I know is that I will be there and need a place to crash. I will leave it to the experts to decide the logistics. _________________ Jack

You guys have built a tradition staying at that exit and eating at Outback Steakhouse, so finding another hotel or two that wants to be booked full for that weekend should make some sense.
If high dollar gasoline continues, the hotel should be happy to see a full crowd.

PS. I plan on NOT being sick this year and doing a better, cooler video with lots of interviews of bus owners talking about their bus--where they found it, hardest stage of restoration, best break-down story, etc, etc. _________________ LynnsABCs

I'm game with whatever you guys decide to do......if I drive out and have a bus to camp in I'd love to go to the beach. If I fly out and stay up all night Friday night at the Tampa warmup.....then I'll prefer the hotel.
Hopefully the '55 doesn't break down again this year. |

i personally feel that driving back towards the beach after the caravan puts a serious damper on the socializing time and would be a logistics nightmare. 75% of the weekend is social hour anyways. i for one really enjoy the hotel hanging out.
i am thinking book another hotel right at the exit and then possibly pile in a bus or two and head over to the real "show hotel" right after dinner.
thoughts on that? |

| I don't understand why we have to take the party to the "official hotel"? Why can't the party just be where ever the majority of the people stay? I don't really care what hotel you guys choose as long as I can sleep in the parking lot and use the bathroom. |
