|
|
I just got an email from a fellow sambanista that opened my eyes to a new method of Ebay sellers conning people out of hard earned money. My exact classified is now on ebay, only I'm not selling my buggy on Ebay, and I'm not in staten Island. Check it out:
My real ad on the samba:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=307050
The fake ad on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-Deserter-Off-R...enameZWDVW
I wrote Ebay and made them aware of the fraud that was going on. Hopefully nobody will get ripped off. WATCH OUT!!! Ebay is not the safest place to buy vehicles!! _________________ Socaldubs

| Notice the ebay seller's zero feedback rating. There's a definite red flag right there. |

His location is listed at Staten Island. I emailed him telling him I live on Long Island and would like to come by and see it.
We'll see if he replies.

| Whoever it is, has TWO other buggy's listed with bids on them Listing's end within 24 hrs on first. I am an Ebay member and this is a disgrace. Hope you e-mailed to [email protected]. I have had good luck with this, answer less than 24 hrs. Any e-bay member can contact bidders and warn them. But would be nicer to find them, as Glenn is trying to do. Item #'s are 270009148128 and 270010916649. I will watch this post and contact bidders if no reply from E-bay or someone does not do first. |

When you go to look at it drive up in your buggy. See if he even comes to the door. |

| This kind of thing disgusts me. Ive seen many items listed that are obviously fake (to me at least) Like previously mentioned, the give away is their feedback. Also, if they do have feedback, its from made up names who have no feedback themselves. There's no way you'll meet up with them in person, since they just want someone to pay them via paypal......Of course, I would love to beat on their faces a bit......2 questions- -Are you protected by your credit card company, Ebay or Paypal if you get scammed on Ebay? Is there a way to leave feedback on a scammers listing if you dont buy from them, to warn others? |

I just sent the last two bidders an email to check here for a thread regarding the car they're bidding on. David _________________ Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day,

HUGE red flag right there. Never, ever, ever bid or think about bidding on an eBay auction where they want you to become "pre- approved". _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yeah it's quite frustrating Glenn, you get yourself wound up to start bidding the item up and it disappears. I've seen quite a few Judson Kits up for sale on Ebay using the same pictures and text from different sellers.
One just a few days ago was so blatent I can't imagine anyone falling for it...one day sale, with a low "Buy it Now" price, no reserve and the seller had a zero feedback rating. When I first saw it, had 5 bids and it had been up for 4 hours. Quite often those involved bid it up themselves just to give it the look of a legit sale.
I was about to report it when Ebay pulled it. _________________ John.

Well whoever it was that posted that buggy for sale on Ebay definately knows about this site, i wonder how many other items for sale on this site have been used over at an Ebay auction as fraud That just sucks, there always is one (or more) jackasses to screw up a perfectly good thing. And at least we have "Big Brother" watching over this site. _________________ This is my 23rd year in the Auto Body/Paint Game!

I emailed the guy that GFW 1985 posted, about asking to see the buggys in person. Here's his reply- -"Sorry ..I was out of town, the sand rail is still available for sale, please let me know if you want to buy it and I will relist it and let you buy it now for $2950 including free shipping to your door.
I attached pics here.
Thanks,
Andre"
He also sent 8 pics. No telling where he's located, but at least he spells better than previous scammers. He offers free shipping..........ya right. |

Well Girls and Boys - the person DOES know about this site, and is looking over our shoulders right now.....
I thought that I was doing a good thing because I have used Ebay for buggy stuff, and someone was kind enough to email me about a fraud listing....
I dont know if it was from this thread or the other one about fake stuff that got me on their hit list...
I got several emails today via Ebay generated mail that were laden with virus's. The member number that sent it is very very new.... so I guess that my "Mutha" of a firewall and those all so expensive virus block programs were worth their salt today....
