Not sure what to think of those "trailer bajas."
OTOH, the builder seems to be quite the enthusiast, and noted the same "engine is slightly crooked" thing that most of you guys with Bus transmissions did. |

There's a guy in town that used a ford probe running gear to build a rail. He's a great fabricator, but the rail still sucks. Homeboy used the engine, transaxle, AND struts. It's got like 4 inches of usable travel, and you know the first time that rail goes off a good jump those struts are going to fail.
But it hauls ass going down the dirt road. _________________ CU05 w/HBB

From his website:

That's one very cool baja....figurative AND literally... He just installed digital air conditioning.
A comfortable VW beetle with lot's of power and the ability to go everywhere. I like it!
Greetings,
Gerrelt. _________________ homepage

BajaWes is a pretty sharp guy. I wish he still had the videos up on his site. Watching that "buzzin half dozen" in action was nice to see. His car runs well.

wow, didn't realise there was a jury that decided what was a trailer Baja and what wasn't. And I thought driving offroad for the last 12 years would've given me the right to call it an offroader. In fact the last time it was on a trailer it looked like this;
I do have a video page with some small videos. I plan on making a bigger video soon. Check them out here;

We generally do a different type of i offroading in Australian than what the US guys do. We do a lot more bush trails, steep rough hills and stuff. This video shows you what I mean;

We do have sand dunes, but the nearest dunes we're allowed to drive on are nearly 10 hours from my house. And I drive it there and back (no trailer).
We like national parks with rocky river beds and generally rutted 4x4 tracks.
We also have a lot more restrictions on what we can legally do to the cars compared to the US. Everything has to be approved by an engineer and it makes things difficult. My car is pushing the limits of what can be done legally.
And this is my only car, so I make it nice to live with for day to day driving. That's why I installed power windows, climate control and other cool luxuries.
That's for the nice comments too guys. |

Actually about 90% of the offroading us U.S. guys do is pretty much on the same terrain our Aussy friends tread. We have a lot more mountainous and wooded trails than sand dunes over here. _________________ My Albums
