It’s too bad they used a 1970/1971 rear bumper on such an original Karmann Ghia.

Sport Ghia Convertible!. These are super rare with a very interesting history. What do you members think? I have one of these but this is not mine.

“Authentic and original” I dont think so. Nice looking car but not a mild custom.

Yeah I'm not interested in the car as a purchase. More just curious on folks' take on its originality, as well as the 60/61 crossover point.
I've really been trying to find that thread about the dash pad with no luck!

I think the cross over point for ribbed dash pads is January 1961. My February '61 car had a smooth dash pad. Others may be able to pinpoint the latest car with a ribbed dash. Hope that helps.

This one is very well done, though the yellow color in the ad photos seem to be more of a "chrome yellow" than the slightly paler original Saturn Yellow. But the yellow in the walk-around video shows the Saturn Yellow accurately. My first driving VW was a '60 Beetle which I had painted Saturn Yellow, so I have an experienced eye for this special shade even though that goes back to the mid 1970's.

"Rostyle" wheels? I've never made that association but it can apply in a stretch, though I've only seen Rostyles with 5 spokes and not the 4 spokes of the Ghia's sport wheel style.

Bumpers look too massive without the black separation line/tape usually found in the center groove.
