|
|
Thats right! Beginning with today's show (5/18/07) and spanning for the next 8 weeks the entire 4th Dimension Radio podcast will be on the very myth infested topic of "cooling"...
In these shows we will be going over every aspect related to cooling from myths to testing date, cooling essentials, cooling tips and even detailed information about the cooling system test work that we did here in the lab and on the road.
Here is the tentative schedule for this mini-series on 4th Dimension Radio:
5/18- Cooling essentials for both Type 1 and Type 4 engines. In this show we'll go over the things that must exist before any engine can best utilize it's cooling system.
5/25- Engine temperatures. In this show we'll go over the minimum and maximum acceptable running temperatures for TI and TIV engines as well as the acceptable engine temperature variances between cylinders/ heads. This show will be full of information that is not posted on any website, book or other reference material.
6/1-Cooling fan differences- Radial Vs. Axial.. This show will go over the two different types of cooling fans used and their strengths and weaknesses and why they work better in different applications. This show will basically be "911 Vs. Stock/DTM cooling" more than anything else.
6/8 -Does my larger engine than stock engine have to run hotter than a stocker?? This is a hugely misunderstood topic!! In this show we'll bust the myth as it relates to larger engines running higher temperatures.
6/15-Cooling the Type 4 engine equipped with the "stock" pancake cooling system. In this show we'll go over the way the stock system functions, this show will be geared mostly toward buses and 914s and we'll divide the show down the middle and go over the most critical questions and information concerning both applications. We will cover stock and performance base engines as well.
6/22- Type 4 upright conversion detailed information. In this show we'll go over the function and characteristics of the various Type 4 conversion cooling systems including the DTM, 911 style shrouds and the Cali conversion.
6/29-Cooling the Type 1 engine. The Type 1 engine is the target of many aftermarket solutions aimed at providing better cooling for the engine. Find out why most of these don't work as well as stock! We'll be going over our cooling system evaluations and their results in this show as well as covering the things that must exist for any cooling system to be effective on the Type 1 engine.
6/29- The Aircooled Technology DTM cooling system. This show will go over the Type 1 and Type 4 DTM, it's entire history, it's development and how the DTM has proven to be the best cooling system solution available. This show will cover the Type 1 and Type 4 shrouds universally.
These shows are a must listen!! Even if you don't typically listen to our Radio Shows make sure to listen to this mini-series!! _________________ Jake Raby

We didn't have any temperature issues... Clutches and bent valves are what took us out
BTW- We were not racing any other car, not Art and not the Chevelle that was in the episode, we were being challenged by the host of the show and were not lined up against any other car when we lost the competition....
Art did kick some serious ass in the challenge, I'll be the first to admit that. He and his crew did a great job! _________________ Jake Raby

We pull and archive them every so often.. They will all be available for sale (at a very good price) through my store soon... Maybe in just a couple of weeks they'll be available.
Someone may have saved the show you need and I certainly don't care if you guys share them amongst yourselves.. _________________ Jake Raby

Loving the 4th dimension show. I listened to the first episode on cooling as I was replacing a huge steam to air heat exchanger at work, and it's nice to hear someone discuss the concepts and science behind a lot of this stuff.
I can only get the last 6 shows to download, and couldn't find any on the site yet. There are compaines that will create and distribute the cd's for you, I know of another podcast that does just that and the price is very reasonable. PM me and I can pass along the info if you need it. _________________ Ronnie
