Hey,
A friend of mine is working his 61 walk-thru camper and noticed that one of his front doors is recessed for the door handle and one is flat. I know this is a change somewhere in the 61 run and knowing VW his bus may even have come out of the factory that way! Does anyone know a month or vin number of this change? Maybe it changed when hinges went low?

Gabe's bus takes the non-recessed doors. that bus is an august '60 bus, the change in the doors was a few months later.
one thing to keep an eye on is the location of the drain hole in the door versus the dogleg. the late '60/early '61 door has the later drain hole location. (not that it really matters all that much. most people don't even know this difference)

The cab door handle recess changed at the same time they went from high hinge cargo doors to low hinge.

I AM as good as I thought. That's exactly what I told Jeff in a PM last night but I wasn't positive so I told him to ask you guys to make sure. I guess I shouldn't have doubted myself...
