has anyone else had problems with the clearcoat on the reproduction BRM's peeling/ flaking off? does anyone know of a good way to remove the clearcoat completely without damaging the wheels?
thanks!

Oven cleaner will take it off, but it could go into the paint if you're not careful.

If they're anodized the oven cleaner will strip that also off the aluminum. But you will be able to repolish the aluminum afterwards.

it took a while but I finally got around to stripping the BRM's. sweetlookin66 was right about what to use...

figure about 3 cans of stripper for 4 wheels ($7-8 bucks ea.) and about 30 min. per wheel. did I get wet (pressure washer)? YES. and the shit burns if you get it on you, but you'll live.
the problem areas- the paint doesn't like to come out of the lug holes, so you'll have to spend a little extra time in that area.
all in all great results without a lot of work. hope this helps someone....
advice: mask well, follow the directions on the can, and DON'T leave it on longer than the directions recommend.
