Thank you for the photo. Were there many of these prototype engines produced? I have only seen this engine mentioned in a type number list.

this Palten Transporter was a Diesel also, don't know the story behind it though

Anyone know who to at Volkswagen to contact to see if they have the blueprints/paperwork for this engine? I emailed the museum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, early models are by no means a specialty of mine. But I read somewhere that there were only a few of these prototypes were made, and they were dreadfully slow. Something like 0-60 in one minute. So they pulled the plug.
