I am wrong if I heard that the big top tent was a 'one year only' item?
I took a look at the main threads about this and at some pics from the gallery and noticed people says 1966, 1967...
one year only? which one?
two years only? which ones?

I slept on crofty's tent once. I passed out drunk from two bottles of Everett's brother's wine. |

Yes, most 65-67 came with the big top (or the mounting for it),
but a few 65-67s came with the peaked tent (or the mountings for it)
I have only seen this option on the euro sold but US spec SO-42s.
Susan's bus 'Zapper':
The splitty 'big top' has the frame inside the canvas (endoskeleton)
while the Bay 'big top' has the frame outside the canvas (exoskeleton). _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Do the Euro SO-42s have regular pop-outs??
That bus is missing the Jalousies?
But very, very, very cool. _________________ Slow Moving Vehicle Magnets available. Click here for details. |

Yes, they have two pop-outs, no jalousies. See: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=220422
Susan's bus is awesome. She likes it too, she's had it over 25 years _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |

Endoskeleton:
Exoskeleton:
I do not know for sure that the tent was changed exactly at the split/bay changeover.
However, the splitty brouchures show the endoskeleton, the bay brouchures show the exoskeleton. _________________ The Obsolete Air-Cooled Documentation Project http://oacdp.org/ |
