That's the same car we just finished talking about pictured at the top of the previous page. It was the Oldest Volkswagen in America in 1960.

It's no wonder that the rear bumper support bracketss on the bodywork of earlier Beetles are found to be fractured. How many pictures here on Samba show people resting, leaning & standing on the bumpers? The 58 Standard I have had a number of fractures when I got it, and subsequently learned from the son of the 1st owner, that they used to take the car when skiing, and when stuck, so as to get extra traction, would have up to 4 people jumping up and down on the rear bumper! |
