I can't wrap my mind around how this works. Can anyone simplify the pivoting and twisting mechanism for me? |
I used different sizes of pipe welded a bolt in one end then an all thread connector welded to the other pipe, twisted them together. A nut and bolt inset to set travel limits... Probably to simple. Should have sourced a hinge of some sort. |

Took me a few minutes to figure what you used for the "over rider". Nice. _________________ nothing |

I'll probably use them on the front next time too.
I made the over rider cover the reflector part of the light. I was happy with it but it does block it from view. |

Lots of different sizes to pick from.
Also I boxed it in to add strength and it mounted to the bumper bracket through the top and rear. Not sure how it has held up. The basic idea was good though, I'll be better about the next ones though. |

215 / 75 /15 on Mercedes rims with et 49 are ok on my late bay or i need et 37 ?
thanks |
it will work no problem. I have BF all terrain on the same wheels, 215 up front and 235/75 on the rear of my SC and it doesn't rub anywhere although it's super close to the spring plate. _________________ Also, vanagons! |

While walking the camp grounds tonight I found a guy with a Westy vanagon to and chat up, and measure his rig... The results were not in the bay windows favor... Vanagon sheet metal is ~70" wide from outside to outside above the bumper. Our little bays are much smaller. The exiterior bumper to bumper demension is ~67". It would require a serious sectioning job to get the GoWesty bumpers to fit.
Edit:
Ended up parking next to another vanagon for a few days in Mexico and got to looking more closely at the plate bumpers from GoWesty. After driving with fuel cans and the spare in the bus for a week now its probably worth the modification work to get them out of the bus. If you cut an inch or two out of each side of the bumpers it should work. I'll report back _________________ 1973 Campmobile http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=524511&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Been away for a while but I didn't know you had video of this:) Yes, some of those 'puddles' were deep enough that it blew the fender liners out of the blue Dodge. Good times:) |

I'll bet that's a fancy dance in cross winds on the highway.
Who's is it and is it running Porsche 930 CVs? It would almost have to if the transmission was left stock.
Wow.
