Some other differences:

One is stamped the other is cast

Different brand of lenses SWF or HELLA

As I have over 25 side markers in my stock I have about 50/50 of either types

I'm confused... the picture you are showing here is the Right Side Marker but you are claiming that the Left Side Marker is the rare find... correct? Shouldn't you be showing us a picture of the "Left" Side Marker and not the common Right one?

Today and old friend called me and said he had something for me. He gave me a pair of flat type 3 hubcaps, three NOS side markers, one amber and Two NOS RIGHT side markers and two NOS sidemarker seals. I recall when we bought those in 1985 at Car Custom in Azusa. He never used them and gave them to me.

Probably best just to check others for sale in the classifieds section of the site
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search

Keep in mind these are all unsold so the prices could be from a little too high to outrageous.

I saw those, but none of them have a right side in the same condition as mine...

I was not aware the right side was worth more but I trust the people who posted this above.

Off the top of my head and making a total guess, add 50% to your estimated left side lens value for the right side lens.

Every time Pedro and I got to a show and check out cars, he always looks for the "correct" side marker lights. It's funny how detailed some cars can be.

In all of my type 3 years, this is the most I've ever owned, the one one my car and my two spares. I've never seen another color other than red/clear.

I think the color depends on the market.

My '65 has amber side markers. I believe red/white would be correct for Italy and surely some others as well. I believe amber is correct for Germany but I'm no expert on vehicle lighting laws of pre-EU Europe.
