RMA ghia???

So my friend went to the junkyard today and called me telling me he spotted a ghia. He brought me the badge off of the decklid. It says "RMA Ghia" instead of the classic "Karmann Ghia" badge that i know. What does that mean? is that a limited edition thing or what?
