|
|
Hi all.
I'm writing this because I received a call from RIMCO today asking me to please pick up my parts. At first I figured they just needed to get paid on the job, but after talking to them I found out the the owner (old man Riddle) is in his 80's and no longer has a desire to continue with the business. That's right. RIMCO is the place I have been going since 1979 when I got my first VW and now it's future appears to be uncertain.
I was told they are for sale, but could just disappear if they are not purchased before the building they are in is sold.
Sad to see another piece of the VW culture fade away like this. Now would be a good time to give them a call if you are interested in the taking over the company.
I wish everyone at RIMCO good luck in the future. I hope the RIMCO name lives on.
All The Best, Robert taylor |

They probably got tired of the complaints. 2 out of 3 things they have done for me have sucked ass.
I hope someone buys it and makes it what it used to be. |

Did my clearancing and shuffle pinning. No problems. I may have a unique AS21 case now that will be worth a bunch when I am dead? Being that it was done the last year in business? Kinda Like the Okrasa stuff? _________________ 64 Bug, White, 2017, Dual Weber 44's, Engle 130/Engle lifters, Home P&P'd 40X35 heads, CB 4340 nitrided crank, Eagle knock off H Beam 5.5" rods, Lowering Beam, Rancho Trans, Traction Bar. 225X60's rear, 145's front on Porsche Chrome Nipple Wheels. |

I actually found a machinist that does great work, and is competitive, and his turnaround is very good. It can happen. |

They are getting out of it, and some of us are just getting INTO it.
Sad to see them go. But I am sure some new blood will come to fill the gap. Always does.
IT will be exciting to see what will happen next to our hobby. My..my..what are we going to do for machine work now? |

Well...all I can say is that the machinist does NOT play favorite nor does he allow someone to cut in line just because you have said hi's and shook his hand a couple of times. No sirree. It is not fair to anyone nor appropriate. Fall in line like everybody else.
If people are much ahead in line, you might have to wait your turn. Don't act like you know him well, either.
Someone got beat back in line and they do not like it. |

I just found someone that does what they say, which is all anyone could want - dependable. No need to cut in line.

If you have ever worked in a shop this is very true. No matter what type of business you are in you always favor those who treat you fair. This I believe is at the heart of most of our problems in our country. It is the "All about me syndrome." If you respect each other we all get along. If a guy or gal that has traded with you for along time and is decent to you and needs something quick or special, sure it is ethical to bump them ahead! My wife worked for the now Defunct TWA as a counter Agent. If someone gave her crap she would look down he line for a fat person or those foreigners that do not bath and sit them next to them. But for those that flew allot and were nice she would always try to get the seat they wanted or even upgrade them to first class if it was open. ( Remember not to piss off the counter agent when flying!) Relationships in business is what separates the successful people from the also ran's. _________________ 64 Bug, White, 2017, Dual Weber 44's, Engle 130/Engle lifters, Home P&P'd 40X35 heads, CB 4340 nitrided crank, Eagle knock off H Beam 5.5" rods, Lowering Beam, Rancho Trans, Traction Bar. 225X60's rear, 145's front on Porsche Chrome Nipple Wheels. |

I can certainly attest to the "favoritism" on PEOPLE YOU ALREADY KNOW WELL. We do each other favors all the time with my friends.
That should not be the case w/ just an aquaintance. People should NOT assume they are in the clique when they are trully NOT. I got the impression that I was supposed to just drop what I was doing and produce because we chatted a couple of times.
Ahh..excuse me. Who are you again???
I only do the favors to my true friends. And I have enough of them. Outside of that, I treat everyone else fairly and the same. |
