Think I'll try and come down for this. Been wanting to hit the beach. Hate to miss the Summer Sizzle show though. Gotta either get the '68 tuned up or preferrably get the bus 15W runnin right. Probably gonna switch to an alternator. _________________ My Rides

Here's a location link to get directions to the show:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geoc...iwloc=addr
Its the Google Maps for Bay Blvd. and Magee Ave.
This is where you should turn off of Rt. 35 to get right to the curb cut where we enter the show, Magee Ave. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

I plan to be there along with Mingo and a couple of other Perth Amboy folks. We're caravaning down from the Dunkin Donuts across the street from the ShopRite on Route 35 in Perth Amboy just before the new bridge. We're going to meet there at 8am.
Obus, once I wrenched my back and still went to a car show, even though I had to ask for help from others to get my beach umbrella and sand-filled umbrella stand out from the car! I couldn't even get up out of my chair, the pain was so bad. Talk about dedication!
Or stupidity! _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

If I can wake up after the Mets game Saturday night, I may take a ride down. Nice mini trip before I leave for Michigan. _________________ -=Rob

Here's some shots from today's show.
It was beautiful all day until about noon.
Then it got dark and the police warned us about impending thunderstorms to arrive at 1:25pm.
We advanced the ballot counting and got the awards in right at 1:15.
Everyone packed up and was on the way out when the rain began.
Other than that, I thought it was great.
I really like the fact that families visiting the shore get to see the vehicles and vote on their favorites. Not like your regular show where only the participants see the cars.
The kids get a big kick out of selecting their top three favorites.
Some take an hour to peruse the vehicles, some take 30 seconds to make up their minds. All in all, they tend to make pretty good choices on the winners.
Some shots:
The Beetle lineup:
Don DiGhetto's magnificent recent barn find.
They are still out there.
This beetle has sat in a barn in New Jersey since 1978.
The registration bus, and Ann, the registrar.
And, on a sad note, a small tribute photo collection for the late David Mayes. Several folks who saw the photos knew him, mostly from buying and selling parts. Its a small world, though. Here were people from New Jersey who knew a VW collector from Eastern Oregon.
R.I.P., Dave.
Thanks to Ann, Sconord, and VWman4life for the help today. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

One of my favorite shows. Friendly group, nice location, pleasant drive (when not being caught in lightning, thunder, hail and rain...my beetle saw more rain that afternoon than in the last 10 years). Thanks to John P. and crew for a very nice time. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Another great show John, I look forward to this one every year. Decided to go home a different route than I came down [big mistake] and ran into a few road closures [accidents, and downed trees] traffic, and alot of rain [gross understatement]. My usual 1hr 45min ride home took over three hours! <yikes> But it was all worth it. The show was great, the people were wonderful, and the entertainment on the way home was PRICELESS!
My hat is off to Chris Albert and his wife Teresa and their Acapulco Thing. These folks are hardcore! Hell, Chris didn't even have windshield wipers [not that they would help much!]. I was comfy and warm inside my vert but I felt bad so I offered Teresa a ride home but by then it was too late. So, I tossed them a few towels!

Sounds like a good time, shame I missed it. Mets ended up going 14 innings the night before and I didn't get home until 2am. I'm slowly starting to accept that I'm about to turn 40 and can't do these shows on 3 hours rest anymore LOL! _________________ -=Rob
