Ive been looking at a 68 cal look bug. But its been sitting for about seven years. The pan, not the motor. The motor has been in a sand rail. Its a 1776, engel cam, scat, and cb performance parts, with approximately 10,000 miles on it. The guy is asking four grand for it but since its been sitting for so long I dont know if its worth it. But it looks real nice and all the stuff that I want to do to it is already done.

if it's not rusting it's worth it. if it's rusting it's not.

look over EVERY square inch of that car. look under the hood, deep in the corners especially at the fresh air hoses if they are bad and water get's down in there they will be in the heater channels and start rusting out without you knowing.

pull the carpet back as much as possible in all areas and take a look at the heater channels and the floors. don't forget the cargo area behind the seat, if that back window has been leaking, you'll have some rust on your hands. check underneath as well. most popular place is the battery box. if that battery leaked, the floor will rust. also that is like a water collection point back there.

just give it a good good good good good look over.

It just got all the window rubber replaced and the door rubber. The only rust spot I saw was on the passengers front fender. Nothin else really though. The guy kept it in his garage.

95 um I think that is pushing it for a new car not knowing all of the mechanics brakes tires steering etc.
I have a solid bug and nope it is not worth it to stretch out my leg on it.

The brakes work perfect. Thats the only thing the po said might need some work just cause it was sitting so long but they hold pressure and dont leak. Havent been able to get it registered in my name yet so i havent driven it much lately. but it runs very very well.

He drove the car from ninety two till ninety six whaen he took the motor out and ran it in a sandrail. He put the motor back in the bug to sell two months ago. So needless to say it sat for a long time. But now its up and running again. Its my "new" project. Its fun as hell too. Just have to figure out the wiring. The blinkers arent working and the po had put in five guages two arent even hooked up to anything. But i did get the others working properly.

Not yet. I have my camera packed up and cant find it. Half thinking of just buying a new one. I dont like the one i have anyway. But the bug is corvette white with a blue pearl clearcoat, single piece windows, the plain black"cal look" window rubber all the way around, 2 1/2" dropped spindles up front and the rear is turned up two notches so it drives on the tread and not inner side of the tires. The front tires are 145 r 15s and the rear are 165 r 15s mounted on empi eight spoke knock offs. And the front seats are out of a 92 buick skylark. Turns out they matched the headliner the po put in it perfectly.

Nice car, but I wouldn't have paid more than about 1500 for it.

Obviously it doesn't have heat. No big deal, but it is on a $4000 dollar car. Also, that engine is kinda dirty. I'd expect it to be much cleaner.

The back sits up a little high. No big deal.

For $4000 I'd expect door panels and the headrests to be there. I like the look of the low seat, however, with the holes still there where a headrest should be it looks out of place.

Not a bad car at all, I just think you paid too much for it.

It does have the door panels. I took them out to see if there was any water damage to them. There was so I am looking for the board that the cloth goes over to transfer it onto. They were upholstered by sew fine back in the day. I had the headrests but didn't like them too much so I took them out before I took the picture. The engine is dirty. I live on a dirt road so I didn't bother with cleaning it up when the pics were taken. I plan on stripping it down to the tins to clean in the near future but just haven't had the time. It has cb drop spindles up front, the traction control bars in the rear, and sway bars. When I give it a little the rear end squats, that's why I have the rear so high. It makes the tires ride properly when its going.

It doesnt sound too bad. Kinda like a subaru wrx. Dont worry, plans are in the making for a hideaway or stinger. I really want the new csp hidaway but that will most likely not happen and Ill get a bugpack or empi one.

I have a friend with a Hideaway on his Bug. Makes it a real PIA to adjust his valves.

i had a bugpack hideaway, only took about three minutes to take the muffler off for valve adjustments... I don't consider that a pain at all...
