No, it's not the same...I still want a van...

Check out the Taurus SHO in the background... big pimpin' Rolling Eyes

Sorry for the bad pics, they are from my camera.

The new "not a van" is a 2008 Suzuki SX4 iAWD hatchback. I still ache for a van, but my AWD itch has been scratched. It went through a muddy farmer's field (6" of mud) with just enough ground clearance. I debadged the rear, painted the front emblem matte black (with metal texture), ditched the plastic "skidplate-esque" trim (in anticipation of 1/8" aluminum units front and rear) I also added a rear sway bar and short ram intake w/ k&n filter..rice-tastic, I know, but it has a growl...next up is the dynomax exhaust sitting in my garage.

Someday, a van, for now...a brand new car with warranty.

If you really care what people here think you wouldn't do much better with a Vanagon.

My advice would be to not worry about what people here think. A-lot of us have newer cars that we use as transportation appliances.

Oh; and about the car: FREAKIN SWEET!

Stoner A is cylinders #2/4 B is #1/3 The plugged bowl is the throttle, the bong is the manifold

I don't care what people think.....I want a vanagon, after all....isn't that like the lowest form of Volkswagen, and just plain confusing to everyone else?

I just thought I'd share what happens to some of those who lurk on the forum, search for a van, and end up... well...with something else.

I didn't mean the poll to be a "should I have done this or not" exercise, it was definitely the right thing; I couldn't find a Vanagon I felt comfortable with for the right price, and I wasn't ready to undertake a "project," it's nice to have awd with locking diff (I really wanted a syncro and this is close in that regard) with working air conditioning and power accessories.

Those shorts would be appropriate in a vanagon.

I love the SX4. How can you beat an assload of factory goodies, AWD and at least decent reliability at a cheap-ass price?
You can turbo that 2.3 as well.

Figures you'd like "an assload".

That's a powerful opinion. How many Suzuki cars have you owned? What were your problems with them? Or are you just basing this opinion on ignorance?

Them plaid short-pants!

LOL, I got a whole drawer full of them. Those and a polo shirt have been my standard summer attire, until recently when I realized that I look like a douchebag. I don't know what I'm going to do next year.

For you, I recommend Speedo shorts and a tank top.

There is nothing wrong with Suzuki motors..You cant kill a GEO Tracker/Suz-Sidekick..I've had 3 Suz Samurai & 1 tracker..Great MPG on the tracker..Wouldnt mind finding another as a comuter car..I really like that SX4 too..They will never hve the collectability or soul of my Beetles but they work well as daily drivers..
