|
|
So I had my local vw shop replace my king pins and press the new link pin bushings in. Now it's time for me to put it back together again. The car is a 62 and the shim kit provided by the shop came with four kinda flanged washers and four rubber o rings. The shim chart I have does not show these. What are they? Where do they go? This probably sounds stupid but it's my first one. |

One of those washers counts as 2 shims.
Stack the proper amount of shims under the head of the link pin. Insert it into the knuckle.
Now on the other side, stack 2 less of the number of shims your chart says goes there.
Then slide the o-ring on.
Then one of the washer things.
Do the same for the other link pin and install it. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

The flanged washers have a v notch in them which fits in the slot of the trailing arms, I cant think of how to explain the o rings because its been a while.. There is one per link and it might fit around the inside of the end of the link pin, I cant remember but I know this has been beaten to death around here. _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.
Really appreciate what Everett has done here. Almost like he hand picked some of you. I am very thankful for all the help I get here. |

So if I use the chart for 1960 and on do I still have to deduct 2 or is this already done. It looks like on the left side my offset is 8.5 mm so this means only 2 shims in the "c" location. I can't believe I'm stuggling so much with this. |
