I would appreciate a collective westy powerhum for my mechanic who is bravely attempting to remove melted, unrecognizable studs and bolts from the cylinder heads.
Of course, if he IS successful, it means I owe him at least two more cases of beer!
If he isn't...I'll be back looking for where the best buy on new heads is and buying myself a couple extra cases of beer.

Something like that:
Heat, cold water, Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water,Heat, cold water.... that should be enough.
They should be 13mm, i have been as low as 11mm to get them out.
They always come out but he could end up spending over 30 minutes per stud.
Go buy some beer... Alexander Keith's it is.

Haha...excellent! I love Bra'dor! But only in Quebec, I'm afraid...Keith's is the Nova Scotia brew of choice (not for me, though, I like beer that tastes good ) Bring it!

OK.
So I was cursing and swearing the other night because I *thought* I was dealing with "rust"...
Those pictures put my "rust" to shame.
I am VERY impressed.
I am also never buying a car that has lived outside California.
Holy smokes! |

Ok, two things. I don't have pics sadly. But they looked very similar to Ben's pics. Luckily the guy who is doing it seems to have the same patience that Ben has and is trying to save the heads!
Those pics are the reason I didn't and wouldn't do it myself!
#2 Turning it into a beer post is fine by me! My mechanic prefers Olands Ex...another Maritime favorite. No Keiths for me thanks! I was a Ten Penny guy until they de-listed it...tells you how good that was!
Now I prefer a beer from Ben's province...St Ambroise. We get it as a taster pack. Has 4 flavours and I like them all!
Thanks for the replies and pics...makes you feel a little less crazy when you are surrounded by crazy!

Hey B.
If your man just follows Ben's advice, they will come out eventually, no matter how bad. Ben is very patient, he uses propane. I go straight for acetylene.
Anyone who drank Ten Penny is A-OK with me. That was my brew until they stopped it, quite a bit of Oland's ex, and Moose red too, now Moose green.

Right on Ron! Maybe we should start a forum to get T.P. back on the shelf!
I didn't hear from my mechanic today...not sure if that's good or bad..hehe. Hope to get it back this week. I'll take some rust pics then.
The cat was almost plugged solid. With the new injectors and fuel lines and a clear exhaust I'll be doing wheelies for sure! |
