Hi All

I have planed to install irs from a bay into my split bus.

But i have found a pair of control arms that the seller told me was early bay 68-71 but they do not look like right - the bolt patterne for the springplates is too big and the bumpstop is placed wrong...

Part number is 211.501.239.1

Please see the pictures and help me solve the puzzle.

this is not the part# for the arm assembly, it must be the number for the casting only.

the arm assembly is 211 501 065J and 066J, this is up to '71. the later arms have "L" at the end.

you are correct about the hole pattern, those are not for a bay bus that i have seen, the holes are too far apart and the shape of the end casting is wrong, plus the bump stop pad should be integral to the casting, not welded to the tube.

what is the part number on the piece of tape?

Is that the pair?

Aren't they both for the same side? Or am I just missing something here?

ok perhaps i miss your meaning, but why would you be surprised that the bay bolt pattern would be too large for the springplate of a split bus?

wont you be even more surprised when you find there is no provision on the torsion tubes for the other end of the arm?

im just saying- a bay arm isnt supposed to fit on a split! Question

going back on memorie,, The Audi logo, didn't show up on part until the merger. It seems like that was in 1971 ( ?? ) maybe 70 .. For sure you never saw the OOOO on parts in 68 or 69

From what I see on the casting # it starts 2.11.501. not 211.501. ????

could they be early 924 or a early audi car ????

i know thats what you are trying to do.

but why do you think the arm is wrong just because the pattern is too big for the split's springplates? the bolt pattern wasnt made to fit the split...

I'm wondering, if what he is say is this, The swing spring plate is not wide enough to redrill the mount holes

I know in the split forums, there a lot that have done the conversion, It seems they just changed the plates and that the splines on the T bars were there same ?? About the same as doing a bug.. I'm told on here that in mid 70"s VW did change the spline pattern on Buses
