Im wondering what people are running in the rear for these HP beast setups. I havent seen much talk about the fluid distribution to the rears. Are you guys running the stock T-piece that distributes the fluid to the rear? I dont have a splitty, I have a bay bus and I am swapping a vr6 into it. Been looking into some brake setups as far as the wagenswest Rear Porsche pattern disk kit w ebrake and for the front looking at the big front disk brake kit 'bustangs'. Im looking to upgrade the MC to a new dual circuit but im not sure about the distribution to the rear. I am used to watercooled vws that use a proprtioning valve in the rear. Not sure if the bigger brakes for the front and rear needs a beefier fluid distributor to the rear. |

I have run 944 front and rear disc brakes (the single piston style) with the stock hard lines with no issues, I upgraded to the D.O.T. steel braided for the flex lines.
My present set-up (untested) uses the Brembo four piston calipers which use more fluid and I ran all new lines same as stock dimensions and plumbed in a Tilton bias valve for fine balance adjustment, easy to do if you are running new lines and not expensive.
Stock tee also re-used. _________________ Porsche powered mid-engine double cab build

A brake bias valve doesn't balance front /rear brakes. More info and explanation here: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/proportioning-valves
For front/back balance you would need a twin master cylinder set up with the adjustment knob, typically mounted in the cockpit. I built a twin master cylinder set for our 911 race car. Been thinking about building one for the bus. Should be easier since the m/c's would be mounted underneath where there is more room.
Here's a link to my disk brake conversion. http://there.dino.com/harold/bus0.php
I switched to a Boxster read disk when I modified the rear hub to a 911 bolt pattern. Take into account what wheel diameter you plan on using as this will affect the caliper choices. I had a slight interference problem with the 3 pc wheel bolts hitting the caliper. I used a thin spacer to move the wheel out. I still run the stock hard lines with s/s braided lines replacing the rubber lines. |

That looks very nice. Pricey though! I'd be interested in hearing some first-hand reviews of that setup as well. Wonder if they make a version using split window spindles? It'd be nice to be able to keep the disc brakes already on my truck. |

It's not a racer, but this upgrade on my split drives soo nice!!!
Last month I build this Porsche steering rack under my split, with the T25 steeringhouse and all OG posche parts. I will combine this with airride, thats why I used the center steeringrack. Or you can use a brakebooster, there is enough space behind the beam
I'm testing the setup now, and will check all parts next month. (and paint it..etc) It's also very nice that I have more ground clearance then a raised steering house

Wow!
Lots of new to me Porsche/bus builds.
I would like to see the build threads if you have them.
nynone4, I would like to see how you dealt with the manifold height. A Porsche powered panel would be my next choice for a fast delivery vehicle.
Great photo trackside nikke911, would like a link to your build also.
Here is a recent shot of the mid-engine double cab at a autocross event to get a baseline for chassis tuning.
