Nice job,
could you tell us more, do you have the full result of the dyno?
Maybe a picture of the car? |

We actually do have some resusts...
1600cc ran that day @ about 138hp with a torque of about 225NM.
Sonce then, the carburetor evolved in both size, jets and design. As well as the manifold.
We expect that engine to be around 150hp now.
Just a lil' reminder, the engine is a stock VW engien with only a Engle100 camshaft.
I mean no crank, no pistons, no head work, no nothing. Just a camshaft.
If that engine was set up with a counterweight crank, light rods, a better camshaft such as a TCS10, forged pistons, head work (such as valve job, ports...) it'd probably develop more hp than what we got.
The difference between such engine in a N/A design compared to a stock 1600 is know of almost everybody. Imagine what it could do once turboed.
Carb is a stock 34pict Solex modified to tun without the stock venturi. carb runs as if venturied in 34mm. Carb has been sized up to 36mm.
To cancel the natural lag of this carb once the venturi has been removed, the carb is fitted with an auxiliary venturi (as in the DRLAs and other webers). The carb is smooth and progressive all around in a N/A config. This allows the car to run without any turbo lag at all once turboed.
Engine gives @ 2500 the same power and torque as the original stock N/A 1600 @ its best. Then both torque and power increase up to 225NM and 138hp @ 4500rpm.
Trials have not been made over 5k rpm sine the crank and sth sliding parts are stock. No doubt that the same engine with a tune up as mentionned above would run over 5500rpm.
We have a 2110cc engine running with the same carb and a T3 turbo. But it does not have been dynoed yet.
On the other hand, if you'd ever come to open that car's deck lid, you'd be surprise to find well...nothing. The turboed 2110cc looks like a stock 1600cc VW engine in a stock car. Everything has been camouflaged in the stock pipes, tinware and filter.
A complete recap will be done in English there: http://german-flat-wsl-fun.skynetblogs.be/ |

Oh, and I did not mention what the air/fuel ratio sensor gives.
Better than a fuel injection... |

BS. A well, and I mean WELL tuned carb may get close, but nothing is more accurate, repeatable and tunable than fuel injection. _________________ Build thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212747

Sounds good in the video. But I find it very hard to Beleive that you are running a bone stock Crank and STOCK Valve Springs with the RPMs on the Tach . |

5200 rpm makes you think that? geeze I used to routinely run my stock cranked turbo mouse motor up to 7k, that'd probably make you crap the ole undies...... I have it limited at 5800 now... _________________

This one is!
The dyno sheet will be put online, the lambda curve is so stable, and from 3800 to 5000 rpm it's so acurate that only the third digit after the point changes a little. the lambda is stable at 0.7487 with very minor variation. |

Full throttle is the easy part, it's everywhere else that they fall on their face. _________________ Build thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212747
