				In trying to decode my M-code plate on my 74 Westy, I have found a paint code that is not on any list that I can find on the net. That section of code reads 992549

If I understand the code correctly, 9925 is the paint code and 49 is the interior code. Yes? If so, what was the original color with this code? |

				Possibly, but it doesn't sound like a code for Westfalia, post a pic of your M plate. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The paint code sticker on my bus reads;

leuchtorange L 20 B

pastellweise L 90 D

Hope that helps you out. My bus is OG paint and looks similar. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

				i am pretty sure that Westfalias of that year (and probably others) don't have paint code stickers. there has been much discussion about this in the past, and i don't think anyone has come up with a pic of a '74 Westfalia paint code sticker because (i'm pretty sure) Westfalia did the painting. i know my '74 does not have a paint code sticker.

here is an on-site link to a 1974 color brochure: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/74colors.php

here is a link to a lengthy discussion about this: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=164390

				My 73 Westy has a paint code sticker behind the drivers seat.  It reads;

leuchtorange L 20 B. It is the same color orange as the 73 deluxe that I got the other paint code from.

I can take a pic of it if you'd like to prove it. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

				Our 74' (gone but not forgotten Karl ) had the paint decal behind the passenger seat. It's long gone since we had the bodywork/paint done, but I'll see if I can dig up an old photo of it, assuming I took one?! _________________ www.zwerks.ca |

				My 1974 P27 has a sticker.

Fatwood, are you absolutely sure you are reading every number on that plate correctly? I can't say I've ever seen 7 seater microbus and Westfalia on the same plate. The model should be something like 2319 43.

Just for reference the M# for Brilliant orange with Camping orange upholstery is 922609. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

				Here is the M-code plate from the 73 Westy.

And from the 73 Hardtop conversion....2 tone paint.

				Bus has been on blocks for the last couple of days waiting for the new Vanco's to be installed. Got them in today, but need to pick up a lug stud tomorrow before I can finish installing them.

Once I get it back on the ground, I will double check the code to be 100% sure I read it right. Cam is now working so I will either post a pic of the tag if I had it right from the beginning or feel like a real fool if I read it wrong. |

				OK...my head is now in the very cold Florida sand. I read the tag wrong. The paint/interior code is 922649.

This means it was Pastel White.

Something a bit odd though. The interior code is 49 which comes back as camping red on all the de-code site, but the brochure hazetguy posted says Pastel White came with Blue Green Plaid. The interior in the bus IS Blue Green Plaid..... Who knows? |
