BBB XIV has just ended and we want your input and ideas for our 15th anniversary edition in 2011. I don't know how we can inprove it but maybe someone else has an idea, not that we'll use it, but we will think about it _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Die cast metal BBB, Lake Havasu license plate frames......
Since you do the raffle twice (maybe 1x each of the 3x nights) the event, try less number of items per ticket for more people to win at lest something....
Club vs club events?
A main "burning man" type sacrifice bonfire Sat, night with satanic dance? _________________ Werksberg Products....Products that work!

Drunk people don't pay attention to signs. Maybe we need a porta potty cop.
They were all cleaned at 3p.m. on Saturday. Just in time for the after effects of the Chile Cook-Off
By Sunday afternoon the LBB are to tired to even think of another day. Remember our festivities start on Wednesday _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Understood, would be nice to have park open for Thursday night for early campers - enjoy camping and the local festivities too. Not a full production like the other three days, just easy, early camping. _________________ Gerg

That will be discussed, BUT are people willing to pay? If we let campers in we would be charged for another day, peobaly have to hire security, etc.
A lot of work, planning and expense goes into putting on this event and as stated before the LBB would also like to enjoy the event and not have to worry about problems another night _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

As far as an extra night of camping goes, I am all for it and would gladly pay more. Ronnie has a good point, Security would have to be in place. I know that some of the folks volunteer on Thursday evening to keep an eye on the place. This means you would have to have everything on the field on Wednesday. The stage would have to be brought in, firewood would have to be there, J-Johns would have to be there, then there is the extra expense that the LBB would have , and are people going to bitch if they raise the entry price to cover the added expenses? There would have to be people there to keep an eye on things. Who will step up for this? The LBB pour the hearts and souls into this Event for all of us to come and enjoy. It wouldn't be fair to them to have to put in a lot more of their time and not be able to enjoy their own Event. I think that maybe it should go back to the early days of BBB, just come and kick back and relax with good friends. Don't worry about Chili cook-offs, Slow Drags, Polar Bear Swims, Top 20 Awards, ETC. Just do a Saturday afternoon and a Saturday evening Raffle and a final Raffle on Sunday. I am not knocking these Events, but I think they involve a lot of peoples time and effort. Why not just come and enjoy the weather, the people, and the vehicles. It doesn't matter what happens for 2011, I'll be there and be happy with however the Event goes. _________________ If you argue with an idiot for more than 5 minutes, who's the real idiot?

On my idea of a burning man type bonfire...not burning a Bus or anything like that but one early night with a larger central fire for everyone to be at and get to better know others. Sort of like a mixer....
There's so many small & "groupie" fires....when there are like myself a lone wolf....it's hard just to walk up to a stranger group around a fire and hang.
I was lucky to have 2 girls to invite me to their fire pit on Sat. night and that made the weekend much better! And who was there...Ronnie!
It seem like most still hanged around their own club or group but since we all are there for the love of a car make.....
Just my ideas.....

I hear you and second the motion... FWIW.
Though any and all are always welcomed to our fires, your idea sounds good but also would need to be set up and "controlled" by someone or group. Needing to be "off ground", a huge pit could be provided and placed in a somewhat logical spot off the grass. Similar to the Yuma and BlackStar campouts, where a huge pit is available for all and can be manned by a few. The first time we did Blackstar I volunteered to man the fire at least one night. But again, though these are great ideas, it is too easy to "give" ideas without providing the personal commitment it takes to actually bringing them up to fruition. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Well, I don't know how much more you could cram into 3 days with the schedule that already exists. Extra night of camping is the biggest bang for the buck IMO - but seems like it is just a pain in the ass, so I'm outta ideas. _________________ Gerg

I can just picture a big central bonfire, with everyone clustered in the same groups they would be hanging out with anyway.
Just grow some balls and introduce yourself. We had all kinds of people in our area that I had never seen or met before last weekend. They didn't seem to have the 'lone wolf' issue. _________________ Eric

My first "lone wolf" experience at Jerome 3 years ago, resulted in meeting "oodles" of people; all of whom I continue to see at VW gatherings. I kinda took a liking to being "forced" to walk around, talk buses, make acquaintances which resulted in friendships over the years. BUT, I do like the idea of a big fire for mingling!!! _________________ I am not a number |
