Moderator note:
This was split off from another VW thread as it has some interesting non-VW content.
first i wana thank russ for passing this amazing find on to *TRP* and The Barn Find" we will be sure to find a way to show our appreciation!!!
thanx Inspector!
ok.... so http://TheBarnFind.com has made contact with the owner witch was a very fun and exciting time...
We showed up this morn' and got a good look while we wr waitn' for the owner to show up... so I took a minute to snap some shots of the goodies on ur' check em' out..... then you gotta read the rest of the story...
"The Logo"
so..... only seconds after the owner shows up he starts telling us why he got the bus in the first place... it turns out he long time friends (over 20 years) with Mike from the T.V show "AMERICAN PICKERS"... he goes on to tell us that mike had went ahead and picked from two he had and left this one up for grabs...
you can imagine that was really cool to hear... me and yustrn have been talking about tryn to get american pickers to sponsor our indoor swapmeet lately http://trpindoorswapmeet.com so how crazy is it we meet up with own of his long time friends.... he tells the story bout mike and his partner and a little about how the got thr break and them we moved on to business...
I told him all about The Barn Find and how we started and our vision and how we joke around and call ourselves the VW pickers...
he got a kick outta that... so it wasnt long before we set a price and the bus was almost ours... but this is were things started gettn' really cool...
So.... rite next to the bus there is this huge crazy lookn trailer (see pics) that also belongs to him... we find out that he also collects Airstream trailer as well..
(so for those of you that do not know me I also own and run The Resurrection Project in carmichael ca... http://theresurrectionproject.net and i deal mainly with vw metal and fabrication there...) so we start talking and he says i may have some trailers you can weld on and i will give you the bus... then he perks up and says "Wait... you can do welding on the truck that pulls this trailer and that will get you the bus" "I said sweet.... where is it" he lifts his hand and says.. rite over thr... i didnt even see it at all... you GOTTA check this thing out!!!
this bad boy was made in Oakland ca in the 1930's and has a matching trailer
(now im starting to see how he is friends with mike..) It it is a one of a kind and was off the cdharts even then... It seats four in the front and the driver is in the middle... it has front and back wheel skirts and sports a wild fin on top and suicide doors and a widened body... the trailer has a door that opens up one whole side of the trailer with a push of a button... every thing for the tralier and the "Pupet Show" is ran off a generator that sits behind the driver the fin on top has two exhaust ports for the generator.. that im sure pufd' some smoke now and then... .... the owner went on to say he has all the photos of when it was made and it was a big chunk of history back then.... so im so excited to be a part of the resurrection of this one of a kind piece of history... o... ya..... and the Radio and Tv repair logod' bus that comes along with it!.... so... with all that said... This VERY cool bus and all its wonderful history... is up for sale... The Barn Find is proud to present this bus to the public and is now "TAKING OFFERS" thanx so much for your time and please stay in touch...
Take care...
Jason James Wrenn...

Jason...I'm always happy to help you and your business. You're a good man...and you are the right person to take over the reigns of this ride. When VW Pickers hits the charts, don't forget about the little people.... ...E-Trade will have fun with that comment. No short jokes E-Trade... Anyhow, I knew you guys would appreciate the Puppetwagen. Somehow, I forgot to tell you about it beforehand. I never did see the cab, just the trailer. That thing is a serious trip. Good work... _________________ '56 European Oval Ragtop-Stock

That helmet looks like a "Sleestak" head from the original "Land Of The Lost" T.V. show from the 70's ...Enique would be proud... Somebody post some pics of a sleestak...
