We bought a 2002 Eurovan full camper (Winnebago conversion) from this seller, Randy Petersen, and we are very happy with the purchase. I did a lot of research and found his quality/price level very high. That is, I feel like we got a very good deal for a vehicle that has been ‘gone over’ by someone who has a lot of experience with these vans. He includes very detailed records and takes his time to give very detailed explanations on how everything works and great tips on how to maintain the van.

We’ve only had the van short time and I’ve found him always available for questions and advice.

This was a huge purchase for us so I am so relieved that it went well and that we have Randy as a resource for future questions. |

Purchased 5 Eurovan wheels and 4 hubcaps from this person. I sent the money immediately once a price with shipping was agreed upon, via Paypal. The items were not shipped for over a week, understandably due to back problems the seller was having.

Once they were shipped, they were not packaged well, hubcaps not wrapped separately for protection, there was no packing around the wheels to keep them in place and to aide in the boxes not being crushed. 2 of the hubcaps ended up being damaged in shipping.

Seller refused to file claim, so I did. He was completely uncooperative and at times belligerent in his behavior, when asked to aid in the claim process of which he was bound by contract with Fedex to do. I ended up having to cancel the claim due to his lack of cooperation!

End result, he Paypal'd the funds back for the two hubcaps!

I would not recommend this seller or would I ever deal with him again! _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

They buyer originally purchased 5 wheels from me which he admits came with no problems other than I shipped them a week later than he paid for them because as he states I was having major back problems at the time of his purchase. He OKd the week wait as I notified him to expect them a week late. The 4 wheel covers were sold to him as a sort of afterthought for only $40.00 and no additional shipping charge. 2 of them arrived damaged and I took pictures of them and provided them to him for him to do a FedEx claim as he wanted to file his own claim, but he was unhappy because he wanted me to tell FedEx that he paid me $40.00 each for them when he only paid me $10.00 EACH! I would not agree to help him defraud FedEx so he threatened me with Pay Pal retaliation. Please note my EBay rating is 455 and is 100% positive.

You can't please everyone! |

				| I should add, as the unhappy purchaser of the wheels and wheelcovers noted, I did immediately refund him for the 2 wheelcovers that arrived at his home the FULL price he paid, that is $20.00. Plus, the 5 steel wheels arrived with no problems and were actually the bulk of the sales transaction, that is about $300.00 including shipping. Thanks.... |

I missed out by an hour or so the purchase of a 2001 camper from this seller, Randy Peterson. Afterward, Randy spent a lot of time helping me with the process of buying someone elses camper, which I found to be extremely helpful.

Randy is a helpful honest person who is very knowledgeable about campers and very patient. He offers great tips on how to maintain a van. He's always available for questions and advice and I am relieved that, even I didn't purchase a van from him, he still remains available as a resource for future questions I may have.

I would definitively recommend Randy as a seller. |

				| We sold our Eurovan Camper to Randy, who has a part-time business of fixing up and reselling them. It was a pleasure dealing with him. Working with Randy was much easier and faster than it would have been to sell the EVC ourselves. |

Just picked up a Eurovan bench seat that I purchased from Randy. It was shipped promptly and a lot of care went into the packaging to ensure it would arrive without any damage. Smooth transaction all around. A pleasure to deal with.

Seller was very helpful. Held the bench for me (with downpayment) several months until I could get out there to pick it up. Once I got there, he helped me get it in - which wasn't easy since I had rusted floor bolts to take out and new bolts to try and get in.

He was able to answer a lot of my questions and it was a pleasure doing business with him! |

I just purchased a 2002 Eurovan Camper from Randy Peterson and was very satisfied with my purchasing experience. I found Randy to be extremely honest and very willing to spend time on the phone detailing the condition and shape of the van I purchased.

Randy provided numerous photos and verbal information on the vehicle being purchased, and when I decided to have the vehicle shipped he made all arrangements for shipping and ensured the vehicle was delivered promptly to the shipper for transport.

It was a big decision to purchase the van without every actually seeing it, but I felt comfortable dealing with Randy and the van arrived in the condition he said it was.

Randy is extremely knowledgeable on Eurovans and is more than willing to spend time with you before and after the sale to answer any and all questions you may have.

It was a pleasure doing business with Randy and I recommend him as a seller! |

Dealing with Randy was a pleasure and he shipped the items the same day priority mail. I had my turn signal lens within 72 hours and they were in perfect condition. I highly recommend this seller as I will use him again.

Thanks,

Posted: Fri Apr 20, 2012 12:15 am    Post subject: Maria's purchase of my 1995 Eurovan Camper |
				       |

  |

My response to the buyer's comments are:

1. As Marie herself states in her opening statement of criticism:

  A. The camper was running correctly when she received the vehicle and I made a lot of efforts to do so.

  B. I spent a lot of time talking with her and she states she greatly appreciated all of that.

  C. We indeed had no communication problems although prior to the sale being completed by her flying to the U.S. from Germany and picking up her camper, whenever any issue about the vehicle came up, Maria would accuse me of "being dishonest" about some particular part of the transaction and that the problem was "my fault". It seems that Maria cannot see that problems will come up in any international transaction especially with a 17 year old vehicle that I never claimed was "brand new" or even remotely "perfect."

   D. Our most memorable "problem" was that I agreed to have the timing belt and water pump replaced prior to her visit. This was merely a belt that should be replaced at this time, not that it even had to be replaced now. About 10 days before her visit I took her camper (to be) and the parts to be installed to my trusted VW repair shop. The mechanic to do the work told me that the bolts that held in an assembly that was necessary to be removed to replace the timing belt was "not moving" when he torqued those bolts, and he was afraid they would break if he tried to remove them.

After a couple of days of reflection, I emailed Marie that there was no emergency need to replace the belt and that since she was flying into Detroit in the next week, I thought it was prudent for the belt not to be replaced at this time since she was only taking the camper to Minneapolis, Minnesota not far from Detroit and that she could then have the work done at her local mechanic in Minneapolis at her leisure. I explained that I thought this was the prudent approach to this problem that I thought was minor. The labor to do the repair in my shop in Detroit was only $320.00 and I indicated that I was willing to refund her $400.00 (and possibly more later if necessry) for her to have this routine maintenence done by her mechanic even providing her the parts for the job.

Subsequent to her purchase she picked up the camper and took it to her mechanic in Minnesota and had the belt and water pump installed for about the same price as the labor amount I paid her to have the work done herself.

However again, Maria told me again repeatedly, that I failed her. I don't see what I did wrong as I took the camper to my trusted mechanic to have the work done and it was done per her account within $100.00 of what I paid her to have the job done in Minneapolis. In the emails between us about this problem Maria again repeated that I was somehow dishonest.

In our subsequent emails all cordiality between us definitely broke down. I implied that she was not being reasonable about the sale of a 17 year old camper with 90,000 miles on it and it her initial comment before flying in from Germany was that "if it ran she would take the vehicle."

I think other issues were also involved such as her feeling that I had the responsibility to provide her a valid license plate to drive the camper from Michigan to Minnesota. I pointed out that I am not a licensed dealer and that it was legally not my responsibility to provide her with a license plate, in the same way that when I buy a vehicle from another seller I don't expect them to give me license plates ahead of time. That is usually NOT the sellers responsibility. In fact I told her that if she would pay for the camper ahead of time she could have the title in advance and have it licensed in Minnesota before she even flew in to Michigan. Maria did not want to take responsibility to license her own car. I did give in to try and help her out and she willingly accepted a valid license plate I had from another camper and she promised that she would definitely mail me the license plate the day after she arrived in Minnesota. It has now been 2 weeks and Maria never returned the license plate, in fact for almost 2 weeks would not even respond to any of my emails asking how the trip to Minnesota went, how the timing chain repair in Minnesota went, etc, etc.

  E. The camper did have a slight vibration while the engine was engaged in drive, but not neutral or even reverse. I did tell Maria about this minor problem and explained that for some reason I had found this to be a typical problem with most 1995 VW Eurovans. Upon her arrival in Detroit she checked this issue out very carefully, even crawling under the camper in her dress clothes, to finally conclude that she did not see it as a significant problem and accepted my suggestion that I thought the problem was either a failed motor mount (that I had checked out and found not to be the problem) or perhaps a loose bolt or so connecting the transmission to the engine.

Again I think other issues are really at stake here and I do think Maria is an extreme perfectionist, although denying it to me in her verbal comments, She in fact would state on more than one occasion, that the camper is 17 years old with 90,000 miles on it.

She also requested two receipts, one for $23,000 for the actual sales price of the vehicle and another receipt for $2500.00 that she intended to use to defraud the State of Minnesota as to what she paid for the vehicle so she could save on State of Minnesota sales tax. Maria told me repeatedly that she would not buy the camper unless I was willing to provide her with dual sales receipts. I felt intimidated and did do so.

All in all I went to great lengths to satisfy this buyer, yet her anger was always at a consant level not to mention her constant and continual distrust and continual negative allegations about my character and motives.

Once, I finally began to inform her of my displeasure with her, (2 weeks after she picked up the vehicle) and that indeed the sales transaction was demoralizing to me she became even angrier, threatening, and as we see in her comments here very vindicative.

Not to mention that I still do not have the license back that she supposidly sent to me.

My final comments are that I have sold MANY of these vehicles to people all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Japan, and now Germany, and if one were to read their statements, I think it is very clear that Maria's allegations are not at all like the vast majority of other buyer's comments.

The old saying that you "Can't please everyone" is certainly true here, and based on her own comments she is really satisfied with the camper, but very angry that I felt that I had the right to mention to her that I did not like her treatment of me, a fellow human being.

(Thanks for reading all of this.)

				| I bought a 1997 Eurovan camper from Randy Petersen and just finished driving back from Michigan to Massachusetts and I am very pleased with the camper as well as my dealing with Randy. He is a Eurovan enthusiast and I looking forward to a long relationship with Randy as this van takes me into the future. Randy was able to provide me all the information I needed before I committed to buying and I felt totally comfortable hoping on a plane to Detroit and driving the camper back home. Randy picked me up at the airport and spent several hours going over the van with me and answering all my questions and providing me extensive documentation before I hit the road. Randy's attention to detail (along with his hand drawn map to get out the the highway) made this van a pleasure to drive starting as I backed it out of his driveway and I was grinning all the way home. |

I recently bought a Eurovan Winnebago center seat (the two person seat) from this seller. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The seat arrived quickly, and was in excellent condition. The seller's knowledge of the seat and the Eurovans that it would fit was very helpful in assuring that I bought the correct seat. I highly recommend this seller.

I just bought a 1999 Eurovan Camper from Randy Petersen and am very pleased and happy with the purchase.

Everything was as advertised and Randy was always helpful with answers to my questions. I should point out (and you probably know from the detailed descriptions that Randy writes when he sells an EVC) that Randy does not just buy and sell, i.e.” flip” them. Randy really cleans up and details all his vehicles, as well as inspecting all the systems. While what he does for each EVC may vary, on mine, there were also new wheels and tires, pop-top and galley lid gas struts, new radio/CD/USB player, carpets, some minor body work, repainted bumpers and hood, pin striping, seat covers, smoked taillights, and systems checks. He has a real passion for these vehicles and it is evident in how he takes care of the vehicles and his customers.

For delivery, I decided to fly to Detroit and drive it home. There was the option to have it delivered by a professional service that Randy can arrange, but I declined. Randy picked me up in the EVC at the airport, so I did not have to deal with taxis or finding my way around. As we drove back to his home, he pointed out operational aspects of the EVC. Once back at his house, he went over all the systems on the EVC, demonstrating how everything worked, pointing out little maintenance tips along the way, and answering all my questions. In his dining room he reviewed all the paperwork (manuals and receipts) that comes with the EVC and we completed the final transactions.

Overall a smooth transaction and a pleasure to deal with. |

	  | We are delighted with our experience in purchasing a set of bolts to secure the center seat of our 1997 Eurovan. We began our purchase with a search of "Eurovan center seat bolts" online, and one of the search results was thesamba.com which appeared to be a perfect match. The website included a detailed description of the bolts and a close-up photo, both of which confirmed that these were the bolts we needed. A call to the phone number on the ad resulted in a very pleasant conversation with the parts owner, Randy, who provided helpful installation instructions. We agreed on a payment method, and Randy put the bolts in the mail that day! As he promised, we received the bolts on schedule. We will continue to use thesamba.com for future parts needs. |
