In the 3 plus years I have been working on my 67 Westy I have learned a lot from this forums actually more than the books I have purchased. I have learned never to get rid of anything until the westy is done but I had to learn that the hard way.
I sold my original child's cot boot because I thought I will never need it but as the $$$ increased in my project I realized it needs to be complete. Now that I bought a repro cot canvas and working on making poles I wish I had taken more photos and some measurements of my boot. If anyone could send me the sizes or more photos I would be grateful, I did a search and emailed the buyer of my boot but I haven't gotten anything yet.
Also was there a cot bag I think there was leather straps.
My boot:

feeling really stupid as I just found this thanks Blackdog1999, the search word is childs cot BOOT
I think Joe Comfort will have these made in no time contact him to buy one. I am.
The 1967 Westy childs cot sock is 13" long & 3 3/4" wide after being sewn. The borders appear to be 3/8". The smaller inner fold appears to be 1 3/4".
By my calculations that makes the raw piece of material before starting to sew at 10 1/2" wide by 13 3/4" long.

~1967 they went to the boot. The campmobile # of the change is listed in the westy parts list.
Before that they used the strap and a cleat.
I do not think they ever used both at the same time. |

so in 67 the boot was a substitute for the leather strap? does that mean that for 67 the cot was just sitting on top of the cabinet unsecured?? |

Yes, I believe it to be an either/or thing.
No, the cot is very well secured. The boot secures to the top of the cabinet with two screws, and that keeps the cot from going anywhere. |

Somewhere in the back of my mind I seem to remember the following about the SO-42 child's cot. 65 only had the strap in the back to hold it, no cover. 66 had both the strap and the end cover but the end cover is not screwed down. (my 66 has the original end cover and the strap). And the 67 has the end cover which is screwed down and I don't know about the strap. |

The last one owner 66 SO42 that was at my house had the boot and no strap. The boot was screwed down to the top of the cabinet and that was it, nothing else.
Unfortunately the four other 66 SO42's I've had no longer had the cots or straps for me to compare against. |

Okay, one more wrench in the works.
The earlier boot bag was a green heavy canvas, and I believe that the later 67's had a boot bag that was a sort of rubberized canvas. I have both versions of the bags here. My '67 has the later bag mounted to the closet. Can anyone define the dates that those started/changed?
Joe Comfort will have some cool canvas repros coming soon. I hope someone can come up with a cool and affordable reproduction of the pole set for the Split Bus.

The vinyl ones are usually found in baywindows. Those are hard to find too. I do not know if the green canvas ones went into baywindow production or not. |

Bill, could you measure the distance of the top area of your 67 boot? We have everything else and mine was tapered so the top is a little wider is it 1/2" or more or less?
BTW we are working on poles too!

crofty,
I hear you on that, I have looked for that guy from Japan just so I could buy one set but he doesn't appear to be on here anymore. Does anyone have his name? His ad is gone. I saw him at the Centrial Jersey VW Club campout/car show a few years ago and he asked me to wear his shirt so he could take a photo of me at a Westy bus. I was so VW green that I didn't realize I had the curtain material on my back. I didn't even realize he was the guy making & selling them for ......$700? or was that more than $700? He ended up posting my photo on his ad, I should have gotten a free set for unauthorized use of my image on his ad.
I will be trying to track down the pattern this spring. Maybe it's time to break out my sewing machine

surreysplit, who's Alex? Keep us all posted via this thread but I think Joe Comfort will have the boot soon and being I bought my cot from him I want the material to match. Will that UK guy be making curtains? My new mission is locating fabric and making curtains. Hiroshi is way too high at $900. for a set.
Joe Comfort made me this:
