I know lots of Baja beetles have the class 11 cage for the interior as well as a rear cage for the engine. I am well aware of the Front bumpers for Bajas bugs as well. But those front bumpers only mount to the front beam and framehead of the car.

I have seen very few pictures of people reinforcing the front of the car. This is more than likely because few people are doing it. There is a few pictures of reinforcement of the front end on another forum that can be found with a quick google search.

Is there a bolt in or weld in brace for the front of the car, with the fuel tank relocated? I have already reinforced the framehead on my vehicle.

Someway to prevent you getting your legs chopped off in a daily driven vehicle, with a front end collision?

youve seen the old bug crash test on youtube (along with the early golf)?

they appear to fold up on the frame-head and that helps absorb the energy.
not sure if removing this ability would be the best idea however, i have no idea and i'm sure no expert Wink

There's real science behind this - but I would suggest taking a look at drag cars, stock cars and related chassis designs. BUT there is a lot more to it than just stopping the car from intruding into the passenger compartment. The more you research this, the less you will know......

i think you are looking for a stronger front end incase you hit somthing and you want minimal damage to the car. not a bad idea i would say if you are prepared for a hardter jaring motion when hitting somthing. i dont think it would be a bad idea as long as you had full safety harness and a strong neck. i would build it similar to a cage for the rear. come up from about by your feet forward and wrap the front and tie into the cage by the firewall. just my 2 cents. would be no different than a 4x4 rock crawler with a cage around the whole outside of the body which looks wicked as hell!

the thing front ends have a brace built in stock for the front end that may provide a little help. Its basically a brace from the shock towers to the pan. probably can find some pics if you search. The stock bumper mounts to the body do provide a crush point to absorb some impact.
a lot of roll cages do have a brace or bar coming from the upper part of the front end back to the cage inside which probably helps.

There is a bolt on kit that goes from the beam to firewall on top, and beam to pan on the bottom... I'm sure CIP1, Chirco, etc all carry the kit.

ill keep my eye open for something like that. i have been looking at diffrent tube chassis as well to get an idea. A 4 to 6 point roll cage with bars coming from the firewall to the front seems to be the general idea.

heres some pics
