Dai - Killer Syncro! You can tell lots of work has gone into this and I really appreciate you jumping online to post pics of the progress. Looks great!
What size tires are you currently running? Do you have the dimensions for the front and rear bumpers you created?
It looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product! _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

That is just ridiculously cool.
I'm wondering if you can give more information about the hatch on the bottom of the drivers(!) side. How is it supported? What do you plan to use it for? How do you plan to seal it?
I've got some bad rust on a van I just bought, might be cool to use your idea. |
Hi Noganav, the hatch is hinged from the bottom and will be supported when open by straps or chains so that it can be used as a work bench, inside will be storage space for tools and recovery gear and the door will be sealed when closed just like it was originaly on the singlecab pickup it was removed from.
Hope this helps..... although it was a harder Mod than first anticipated ,a new outer sill panel had to be fabricated from scratch so the door would sit in the right place

The tyres are are 235 75 15 although im hoping to go bigger once ive extented the rear arms
sorry ive no dimensions for the bumpers they were just made up on the van to look right, not to be a certain size, if i get time one day ill measure them up an do some drawings
Let there be White! More to come as it progresses

Thanks Dai! Those tires look great on the van and I think the bumpers you built are the perfect size as well. Can't wait to see the fresh paint. _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

I saw the pictures of the final paint. You can't miss that van in any parking lot.
It has a very familiar look to it.
Hopefully Dai will update soon. |

You state the size of those tires, but what's the brand/model?
I LOVE the look of those tires! Do they fit an unmodified syncro, aside from perhaps the "regular" modifications for big tires?
I have some 15'' wheels and was thinking I need 16'' to get the look I want, but there it is! |

I can't read the writing on the sidewalls, but the treads look identical to BFG Mud Terrain tires to me. _________________ No more van. Wildcat has a new home.

Is that van lifted or is there more vertical space in the wheel wells? What kind of lift is it if so? _________________ Syncronize it!

Dai is now on the long road of rebuilding everything as it goes back together and finding more stuff he wants to modify.
He's driving the Subaru around daily still until the van is ready for the engine.
I'll update this with more photos when I get them.

bit of an update for you all,
havent had much time to do things recently as im working on the van outside at weekends only.
put the glass in
and the new light combo
got it up on axle stands and dismantled everything underneath,so i could replace or rebuild the lot.
resealed everything and primed, repainted and undersealed the whole of the underneath
and while i have being doing that the wheels have been re coated in Gloss black and a 31/10.5/15 BF Goodrich AT fitted to one of my spare wheels to see how much i have to extend the rear arms to get it in there
and that it would clear the side door
and not foul on the wheel arch while under full compression
or the spring
and all the underside protection and the rear arms were blasted and hot dip galvanised
that should give you all an idea how its going
im off back to do some more and ill post some more as it progresses

Lowered Syncro
Looking very nice. You'll be afraid to greenlane this after all that work!
