Just found this on the IG16 forum. Anyone heard of this?
GoWesty wrote:
We're getting very close to unveiling the amazing GoWesty 3" lift suspension kit! This kit not only raises the vehicle 1" more than our standard GoWesty lifting springs with Old Man Emu shocks—this new kit INCREASES suspension travel by one inch, front and rear.
The complete kit will include:
- Set of GoWesty 2” lift progressive suspension springs by H&R, Germany
- Set of front remote reservoir shocks with adjustable ride height and dampening, by FOX, USA
- Set of rear remote reservoir shocks with adjustable dampening, by FOX, USA
- Set of rear suspension arms, 1” longer, 1” higher spring perch, by Burley Motor Sports, USA
- All mounting hardware and instructions, and new rear brake metal lines
- Pair of upper ball joints, modified for greater travel
- GoWesty upper ball joint spacer and hardware kit
Projected price for the entire kit is $2999.99. Stay tuned! _________________ 1987 Syncro

They were talking about that kit 2 years ago but everybody that I know that asked about it was told that it isn't ready yet. Last time I talked to burley he said that they cancelled the trailing arm order with him really early. They may have old information or GW changed their mind and are pushing it out. |

Thanks Dylan but we'll have to see the GW setup to compare
There is a big difference between a "lift kit" and a suspension system. The GW setup sounds like more than just a lift kit for sure.
There is a syncro westy here in town which recently installed GW springs and it looks very tall in the back, I'm guessing around 21"
Installing the same spring on top of a 1" trailing arm spacer would put it sky high, closer to 22-23"
So GW better charge closer to $10000 for the setup to include race prepped 930cv's & axles and to cover the 100 million dollar liabilty insurance they should buy.
Progressive springs may be good for ride quality, but the initial soft rate may also mean initial body roll and at the ride height described above...
I'm visualizing a high top syncro on the two lane 395 highway during a high wind condition... ( I've been there in a syncro Adventurewagen with a normal ride height )...just saying
I don't recommend a ride height higher than around 20" for a street driven syncro, but additional suspension travel, well that's a good thing |

By far superior, I mean, designed as a suspension system, Yes.
Adding taller springs, shims and extensions may work for some to make the van look more appealing,
but after seeing Eric's parts first hand and riding in his van, the "system" he is offering is my choice for custom suspension tuning.
Remember Eric....you explained it all to me and talked me out of needing reservoir shocks for my application.
The perch, the right spring rates and proper installation with alignment should satisfy most Syncro owners.
Now I just need to finish the bodywork on the Syncro getting this system.
Talk soon.

I found the exact ad. Unfortunately it is from July '09, unless they are pushing the project forward this is old info(possibly dead?).

They had the system on Lucas's van at SDM '08 and there was a lot of interest in it. |

Well, if they go forward with the project, someone ought to consider making wheel arches to cover wider wheels and tires that could be used to widen the track and improve stability as a result of the raised suspension.

Who's making those? I saw a Doka pic with Defender flares too. Although I doubt the fancyboi Syncro crowd will go for the Landrover lederhosen look. |

Have a couple of samples. Production stopped because of gov'ment meddling with funds. The novelty kind of wore off. Tied up enough to buy a few nice Tristars. |

I asked GoWesty about the 3" lift kit and they answered that it will take at least another 6 months. _________________ Wolfgang

I'm pretty sure the dark blue doka's are from a chev truck IIRC from a thread a while back. Massaged. _________________ Gone but not forgotten - 1991 Carat - AAZ transmogriffied to mTDi.

Interesting. From my talks with Trailmaster Germany I was assured that I would be the sole distributor for their line of suspension kits in North America.
Thanks for the heads up. _________________ 1987 Syncro
