I need some knowledge from all you guys who know the VW colors like the back of your hand, since chips and computer photos are very unreliable.

Which of the Beige colors is the most Grey Beige ? It looks to be the Sea Sand but I am not that familiar with the colors in person.

Appreciate the help as I am going to have to use PPG locally and figure the "newer" colors will be easier for him to match.

thanks much
Larry

Okay, your question is basically, is that you want a stock VW color that is is an offwhite/grey/beige color? With an emphasis on gray. Lighter than Anthracite but darker than Pearl White?

I know what you mean about pictures and scans of online color chips. However if all the color chips were scanned or phtographed at the same time, you still get a bit of consistancy. with that in mind I dug up two separate photos i've taken of a single page of a 61-68 Dupont color chip chart - different camera settings yielded different tones, but each set of images were all from the same exposure, so there is consistancy among them. The ones on the right side here are closest to the actual colors of the two.

Thanks so much for the replies, that tells me EXACTLY what I want to know by looking at everything side by side !

Nothing like having them side by side to compare. If I saw those 3 cars going separately down the street, I would probably think they were all the same color.

Appreciate your time.

Great pics, I just got a 66 that was originally Sea Sand. PO painted the outside in cheap blue/green but inside is still original. Going to try to strip it down to the original paint for now and the plan is to eventually get it all repainted L568!

Details on your rear wheels and tire size? Looks amazing, exactly the look I want for my 67!

Tires are 205/65 (15). The wheels are widened stock -66 wheels. Not sure now how much but they should be just widened outwards ending at about 5.5 inch wides.
