It was about a year ago that I made contact with a Danish family, the Bagers, who were selling their "expediton vehicle" here on the samba. I was quite interested to meet them and to hear more about their travels as they had been travelling for 2 years with their 3 children around the world in their syncro. I did end up meeting them and they actually stayed with me for several days while they sorted their vehicle. How they managed to travel with the five of them in a syncro weekender to 23 different countries is really quite amazing, as were the stories they had about their travels. For more details about their adventure see their website: http://www.dennisbager.dk/
They have been nominated for "Adventure of the year 2011" by what I think is an Danish adventure magazine. If you are at all impressed by their story or want to vote for this family for this title, you can follow this link:

....and they did it with the floppy style rear view mirrors.
Wow.
I think I would have changed to the power style after the 3rd or 4th country or so.

btw, I tried voting for them, but got a message back saying voting was closed or that I had already.
and the link for their travels doesn't work.

that is awesome. my family and i live in an RV now and tow my syncro behind us, once we're done stateside and the dogs...errr...get old and pass. i'm going global in a syncro. very inspiring they managed with 5! that is crazy. i could handle our small family of three, but not with my two 70lb dogs...they already drive me nuts in a 37' RV.

No, I was never interested in their vehicle, just their story. Their engine blew shortly after getting the turbo rebuilt in town here. They ended up stuffing it in a container and sending it home, then flew out of Vancouver. In the end it turned out to be a head gasket failure and they got to keep their beloved "Mary"

Tried to vote, couldn't - some add-on problem in my pc. Will keep trying.

Hmmm. "Letters to Zerky" was a great read; I'd really love to read an account of these folks' adventures....
