Here is how it looks as of Sunday night. I have 4 kids so late nights on the weekends are the only time I have to work on it.

Ill post a few pics here to make it a little easier.
Started on a 6" chop.
Puttin it back together.
Leftover 6" section
Finishing up the doors.
Donor clip from a mid 70's bay.
Started the transition.
Passenger side.
Started on the back window.
Back window section all in.
Now onto the drivers side.
Drivers side intact and filled the gay bay tail light hole.
Big change.
As it sets as of Sunday night. I know I already posted this pic but I figured it would look better in order.
This is were I am. Plans still include:
Suicide doors
4" body drop
Safaris front and rear
Beam extension
2" tranny raise
Custom made bed
Possibly a RHD conversion. Depends on time and money. Wanna finish it by March 1st. I set myself deadlines why I have no clue.
Let me know what you think please.
The two vehicles were both headed to the scrap yard so I saved the best of both, I dont like to destroy VWs I just seen a chance to make 1 outta two piles.
Any comments, suggestions, or ideas I'm all ears.
Thanks
Brandon. |

He's right, I've only got to divide by one GF and it is causing unexpected calculations... _________________ '63 slow n low build thread...

VWs are my only hobby. I don't drink, kinda funny considering I'm a union distiller. Bein it's my only hobby my wife is cool with it. My kids enjoy it too. I've only been workin on it about 3 weeks now and made some pretty good progress. March 1 2012 isn't outta reach!! |

Easier said than done, but it would have been cool if you could have grafted the rear hatch hinges and everything in for a pop-open rear window! _________________ © CJ Industries, Inc.

Culito, you honestly have no idea how long I sat there and pondered that idea. I was worried about clearance issues with the hatch and the bed when I get it built. I honestly don't think it would've been that hard to do. |

I dont remember you saying that you are also on the volksrods site, but there was at least one waaaay cool pickup there that may help with some ideas/solutions if you need them.

Yeah I'm a member of volksrods.com. I've seen some sweet rods on there.
Metal skills.......... I had very little skills when I started this project. I'm only 28 I don't have the years of wisdom like some of you all! I figured I'd never learn if I didn't try. I've learned alot to. I measure about 50 x's and cut once, sometimes two or three times! It takes A LOT of time and patience trust me. I'll do it again for sure, SOON! I have auto body skills I learnt from some old timers. But not really any metal fab skills.
Like I said I took a gamble and I love the results so far. All the good feedback makes me feel good about my work too.
Thanks again. |

Normally I don't post, but if I could speak for the many lurkers, your project is why I am a car enthusiast. Sweet.
