Hi All,
I have a 77 bus, 2 litre with dual 32-34 solex carbs.
I have noticed I have a spring loaded cup on the right linkage side, but none on the left side. The cup on the right only barely compresses into the crossbar.
Just wondering if it should have a cup an the left side.Any advice on fixing this would be appreciated. |

There is only one spring loaded cup on the cross shaft, the other end is welded/pressed in permanently. There is a little adjustment on the brackets, try moving then in a bit.

I have the same set up as you do. I used one of those little grommets/boots for the spark plugs that keep the cooling air from escaping. Fit perfectly and keeps the linkage from falling off. Have had no performance or clearance issues with it. _________________ 1972 Deluxe named Lucidity

I fixed the issue by putting a a small nut in the left hand side of the crossbar. I could'nt find any adjustments on my bracket.
Mine look different to the ones in the diagram. The way it was caused the vertical carb linkages to lean a bit to the left, causing the right linkage to rub on the carby. Maybe the brackets have spread a bit over time. |

I remove and bend those brackets to make sure the throttle links never contact the carbs or the brackets. Do not bend them installed on the carbs, the pot metal cannot handle it. Plus, it is a great opportunity to make sure the little choke housing screws are secure and the 10mm bracket bolts are too.

Good idea. That's a job for next weekend. Stick them in the workshop vice and bend them a bit. |
