I have been desperately looking to rent a VW bus for my wedding August 4th in Norwich, CT. I've had my heart set on a split bus, but if I can't find one, I'm open to other styles. I am willing to reimburse you very well to drive us to/from the ceremony and let us pose for pictures with the bus.

PLEASE, any help or leads would be greatly appreciated!! We already incorporated a split bus into the design of our wedding invites, since we had previously confirmed a rental with a 67 deluxe owner who has since flaked out (that bus was literally my favorite detail of the wedding!!)

If you can't help personally, perhaps you know someone who might be interested or somewhere else I can look? I've tried the local CT VW Association and other VW sites to no avail (clearly TheSamba is the place to be in virtual VW world). I don't know where else to look, so I'm relying on you wonderful Samba-ers out there to please help in any way possible!

Thank you!

				Ouch, that's too bad.

I wish I could help, but it's a little out of the way for me.

Would you be able to send me a scan / sample of your invite? I'd be really interested in seeing it.

Best of luck

Just wanted to report that I have found a bus!!! The CT VW Assocation folks came through after all. One of the members, BJ Evans, works at Langan VW in the Hartford area, and his boss, Gene Langan, is generously donating the use of his 67 Samba for our wedding!!! How cool is that??? BJ will drive us and is taking care of all the details with Gene. I am beyond thrilled and blown away by their generosity. So grateful to them and to those in the VW community who have tried to help us.

Check out the bus here: http://www.langanvwclassics.com/classic-vw-near-hartford/1967-vw-window-bus/

I'm the luckiest bride!!! |

I would like to see this as well. I'm using my bus in my own wedding in September, but it never occurred to me to sneak it into the invitations. I would love to see how this was done tastefully enough to appease a bride to be.

I guess I'm not your average bride then since it was my idea to incorporate it into the invite (and to get the bus in the first place)!

My husband and I are musicians, so the overriding theme of the wedding was vinyl, and of course the bus fit in well with the vintage vibe. Our wedding invite was designed by Maya Szatai of Papayabear Design (www.facebook.com/Papayabear), and it was screen printed onto a CD case to look like a record album, with a sticker insert to look like a vinyl record.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Hope this gives you some inspiration to sneak it into your invite. Graphic designers can work miracles to keep everyone happy, maybe seek one out?

Btw, posted a few pics from our wedding day with the bus to the gallery today, so I'll share one here too.

BIG thanks to BJ Evans of the CT VW Association who made all the arrangements, towed the bus to our wedding and was our awesome driver that day. And a BIG thank you to Gene Langan of Langan VW who allowed us to use his vehicle for FREE! Check out more pics of this bus and his other vehicles here: www.langanvwclassics.com

Hopefully one day we'll be able to join the ranks as VW owners instead of just passionate admirers, but now I have real high standards after that bus!!

Very nice! Thanks for sharing! And I apologize for assuming you were the groom. And to the groom, nice tie!

Our invitations are already in the mail, but I may rip off your cd idea. We are also musicians, neither of whom can dance, so we're going to play a first song instead of dancing a first dance. We're going to do "You're My Best Friend" into "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and end it on the super cheesy bit about "forever's gonna start tonight..." Who wouldn't want to take that home? _________________ Kevin |

Glad you liked it! No worries, I guess it's usually the groom who figures out the getaway vehicle for the wedding, so it's an easy assumption to make. (And I love that tie too. The groomsmen wore the same one, just in a different color).

lol that will be an awesome first song! Way better than a first dance. Too bad your invites are already out, but a CD would be a perfect (and cheap) party favor for the guests. Maybe throw some other cheesy 80s love songs on there too |

				Tracy -

Your invites/photos are absolutely darling; I love them!! I too am in search of a VW bus to use for our wedding in May 2014 in White Plains, NY. Would you be comfortable passing along the owner's information whose VW bus you used? If not, perhaps you could forward my info over to them? [email protected] - I would be SO very grateful.

Also, if anyone else is in the area outside of NYC and has a bus that would also work, please don't hesitate to reach out! |

Guys -- Just looping in on this forum, my fiance and I are also looking for a VW wagon .... to drive out to Nashville, TN for our wedding. Anyone have one they are willing to rent to us? Any advice/suggestions? We're going all over the internet trying to find something that can work, we see lots of CA/West Coast options, but we are on the East Cost :-/

If anyone has a lead, a wagon, or suggestion please let me know, thanks!

Great photo. I can just imagine, 50 years from now, relatives trying to date the picture by the bus. "Well that's an old bus. Wedding must have been in the 60's!" _________________ Judy

I would suggest that you start another thread in these forums detailing the exact dates, times, distances to travel, number of passengers, whether you plan on driving the bus, how much you plan to pay, etc.

The more detail the better.

Remember, nice examples of these buses can be worth in the high five figures, so the less you plan on driving, and the more the owner can be in control of the bus, the more likely you'll find someone willing to help.

I used to charge $850 for an eight hour day with my bus, the eight hours included my travel time, and I was the only driver. Had no shortage of customers. I charged MUCH more if the customer was driving.

Good luck with your quest. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS
