What holds the washer bottle in place? I'd like to take it out and clean it, but I don't want to break anything.

It is just a press in fit, should pop right out with a little persuasion.

there are 3 'nubs' part of the plastic of the tank that click into matching holes in the body. Sometimes you can pop them out, other times they are really locked in there and it can help to crawl underneath and press up on the two you can see from below... and maybe have someone help it out from above.

an old thread about this:

Be REALLY careful trying to get it out! If you pull or pry the little nubs will crack and you then hav a leaky bottle.

It's best to push the nubs from the bottom.

If you plan to fill it up with windshield washer fluid, be forewarned that if you use the washer and then let the fluid sit on original paint for more than a day or two it will start to eat through the paint.

I recommend just using distilled water, much cheaper too!

Cr@p! Ok, tested it out and I have one small problem and one big problem. The small one, the valve leaks. The big one, the squirter runs without pushing the button. Ran all over the place till i noticed it. I guess this means I need a new wiper switch?

The valve - you can buy them at FLAPS, along with a removal tool. I've changed those out before on the washer bottle.

The wiper switch, not unusual for it to go bad - the rubber seals in there can't be expected to last forever. some recent talk about replacement wiper switches-

My valve leaked too, so I grabbed a good one out of avalve stem, still leaked, grabbed another, still leaked, it was the valve stem that was causing the leak. Had to replace it with one I had in a cracked bottle, its press fit in. Now it doesnt leak and holds pressure, unfortunately my switch doesnt release pressure when I push the button so the next step is to hook up another switch and a washer nozzle outside the car and test, if all is good I will hook it all up to the car. I suggest to everybody that is testing the washer system to use water first incase it leaks.

also, make sure you hook up the hoses to the correctly, there is an in and out. The outer one (B) is to the tank and inner one (D) delivers to the nozzle.

So, the 2 speed switch works fine but I need to replace the whole thing to get the washer to work? (German engineering my @ss) and is it just me who feels like I'm in the Twight Zone looking at that thing? Should be a simple two speed switch, yet it looks like some major piece of equipment with so many freekin electrical hookups sticking out of it.

Also I guess you reuse the knob and plunger? How do you get them off? Do they unscrew?

Just pull the plunger out and unscrew the knob.

How is the switch removed? My guess is it's released from the dashboard side by removing the knob and unscrewing that silver disk. I don't know if the knob pulls off like a radio knob or unscrews? I tried both gently with no luck. I don't want to break something since the switch doesn't come with a new knob/push button. Anybody know?

The knob unscrews and like you said the silver disk unscrews also.It can be a job to unscrew the disk though without the special tool. But I have always had pretty good luck with it .I used a homemade tool .Just a U-shaped piece of heavy gauged wire. You might need another person to hold on the switch while putting it back together.

House of Ghia sells the tool, about $30.00. I rather pay that then be reminded of the scratches everytime I looked at it.

What about the hose, does it just press on to the switch fittings or do you need to clamp it in some way?

Also, I need a short length of hose. Is any available or do you just get something at Home Despot?

Thanks
