Just got a nice new paint job and color matched it to a vintage mid to late '70s bus in sage green.
Not sure if I can call it the Mussbus anymore.... Thanks Mike and Mark for the sweet job! _________________ The game is just like "Slug Bug" except you muss someone's hair and yell "Mussbus!" |

Curious about ball-park numbers for the paint job? Any rust/body treatment while they were painting?
I also notice you went for the black ankle-line (?) around the bottom and fenders/wheel-wells - did they use a texture substance there, or ... ?
I'm still debating whether or not to go with that look on mine. _________________ '91 Double Door Transporter |

About $10,000 just for the paint job including lots of prep and dealing with rust issues. All new window seals and interior areas painted as well. Pop-top restored to new including interior headliner and new hemp tent.
Black texture treatment using bedlining material around bottom perimeter... provides amazing protection and has a nice rugged look imo. _________________ The game is just like "Slug Bug" except you muss someone's hair and yell "Mussbus!" |

Super nice.
That Bay green looks like a brother of the Assuan Brown.

Sage green is one of my favorite bus colors. Looks great on your van, too. Nice job! _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin |

That is looking superb, very nice work!
I see it as sort of friendly with the sweet wheels and vintage green, yet sort of MadMaxian with the bumpers, black liner and tire carrier. Nice contrast.
Is it a 2wd van?

That is my favorite Bay window color and I have always wondered what a vanagon would look like with it. Great van!!! _________________ 1984 Vanagon Westfalia Syncro Hightop

Congrats, that looks fantastic! Great color combo - love the bay green. The bumpers look well integrated with the lower black. What's the black finish around the fenders?
Please post some shots of your "new" beauty in sunlight if you have a chance.

$10k in Santa Barbara numbers is about half elsewhere.
For the life of me I do not not not understand color changes!
On a coach built car you can change colors but on a mass produced car unless dip striped you gonna find the original color.
Looks nice, of course, but what was so bad about white? _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

| Good to see this, and the van looks great! I've been thinking about doing something similar to my white/grey Syncro Westy, but can't imagine going off road with a sparkling new paint job like that. So will probably opt for yet another race car job. Maybe a new color this time, though. Wonder what Earl Scheib would charge for that. |
