I have found something i don't grasp well. I purchased a boxed super . in the boxes i find a normal dissy and upon checking the book wiring diagram i see reference to a "flywheel position sensor". cannot find any parts that look like a flywheel sensor nor does the flywheel look different from any other.is this how the fi is timed or do i not have the correct dissy. checking the wiring harness i don't find the triple dissy plug the t-3 has. My firset fi super. ANY HELP PLS.
i JUST READ THE EFI-1 MANUAL AND STILL SHAKY.

I don't know much about fuel injection, but I suspect the "Flywheel Position" item is merely a gig for the old computer analysis thing they used to plug into your car to test things.

Hi there-
The flywheel position sensor is for using the old VW computer analysis that is practically non-existant now. Don't worry about it now, as the diagnostic plug is probably gone and the wires are likely gone.
A normal timing light shines a light on the pulley in the back and we adjust the dizzy to time it. On the VWCA, there was a sensor on the other side of the engine so the technician could read the timing on the computer. With or without it, it doesn't change the way you will time it. Use a light, set it to 28-30 btdc, (hoses off) and enjoy. _________________ One-on-one tech help for your vintage Volkswagen:

On the Beetle, this sensor was installed in the right hand side of the case on the raised flange that is the front of the case:
It was a magnetic induction unit that would sense the steel pegs in the rear face of the flywheel:
As others have suggested, it was part of the diagnostic block and is no longer used. The only reason to keep it would be to maintain 100% authenticity. _________________ AshMan40
