What is correct for these? (Nov 55 sedan)
I have one which passes through and nuted on the inner end (probably an M10) and the other which screws into the front beam tower support (M12?). I am guessing that if the beam is threaded it would be the latter but the bolt head is 18mm which makes me think that at least the bolt itself is incorrect. |

By the parts catalog your front end should use 111413401A
https://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/DetailsList.cfm?ID=111413401A
Notice how the shoulder is 12mm but the treaded end is smaller (I can only guess they are 10mm threads, don't have an early front end to look at).
Why yours has an 18mm hex is also an unknown for me, perhaps someone can comment.
They can be troublesome to remove if rusty so who knows what was done to yours. The catalog does show the later version that is 12mm as an oversize alternative 111413403A

You're simply going to have to take yours out for a better look and see which you need. _________________ -Bruce

Hi. Thanks for that. Yes, so it would seem that early beams have a 10mm threaded tower housing and later a 12mm one. Either way, the front top bolts screw into the tower and donīt pass through like the rears. I have some sorting to do to get back to original fitting.
Thank you for your reply!! |
