I need to replace my 1973 Thing Frame head and napoleon's hat. I cannot locate replacement parts. Can I use Ghia parts? Any suggestions for locating correct parts? Thanks |

The part # for the frame head is a beetle # so I am guessing the other part is beetle also. |

how bad is your frame head?
the only reason i'm asking is because it's a hard job, especially with the quality of repro parts.
i was able to patch the bottom of the frame head and welded just the ends of the napolean hat.
sorry, i didn't take a picture of the bottom plate repair. _________________ What I lack in brains, I make up for with good intentions. |

Sadly, mine was much worse, on both sides. The head itself underneath was gone. I did not save it, not thinking it would be tough to find. I had the same problem with the area above the "hat" and manage to cut and paste (weld) sections from a bettle to rebuilt the entire bottom half. |

I always suggest finding a rust free used frame head. They are MUCH better quality than the thin, poorly made re-pops. Call a VW salvage yard in the dry desert. |
