				| Ok folks, it's getting close to the start of the season for us here in New Jersey! CJVWS will be hosting the Aircooled portion of the show on April 24th at Raceway Park. This year we will be parking all show and exhibition cars together, first come first serve. This way clubs and friends can park near each other. We also encourage everyone to run the track with their aircooled VW. I'm going to run my camper against another club members camper. Should be a great time. Come see us at the CJVWS tent and trailer, we have some big news about our 2017 Englishtown show.
Let's make the swap big this year, I think the weather will be in our favor.

				| As Casey said, CJVWS had an extremely productive meeting with Englishtown and there are substantial improvements coming in 2017 as Casey mentioned above. ETown understood all of the issues and is very serious about making this show better than ever - including reduced admissions, better spectator experience, increasing air-cooled and racer attendance, and much much more. CJVWS will also have complete influence over every aspect of the improved event and if you've been to our other shows and seen the quality and focus on the spectators I hope you'll consider sticking with us as our members already have a game plan to implement the changes. For 2016 we are able to make some improvements and have resolved many of the problems such as parking both spectators and show cars closer to the action.
Thank you all again for your support for the last 25 years at ETown. I'm very much excited to go racing for the first time come the Spring Show.

				| Good things are on the horizon!
But for 2016, lets show up and have fun. It is great to have the Central Jersey guys try their hand at drag racing. You will certainly be hooked and I assure you, it won't be your last time down a drag strip.

I am unsure as to what/if I will be racing at the event but I will lend a hand t anyone/everyone that needs one. It is really not hard and speed doesnt matter! You can even run a water cooled car if you are afraid of hurting the air sucker in your driveway.

				| Last weekend I attended the VW show and go. It was really disappointing, and I'd like to consider myself a pretty optimistic guy. I believe the Central Jersey VW Club hosts/coordinates it. IMHO, they are a group of the nicest volks; they always have some great functions. However, the venue absolutely sucks. I believe the price to 'show' your car was $30 per vehicle. I have 4 ACVW's; at the risk of sounding like a tool, I have an attic full of the trophies. Including several best in shows. The trophies are plastic and worth about 6 bucks. I won't drag this rant out, but $120 bucks to show my VW's is idiotic. Plus, you need to wait until 4 PM to get a trophy. For those of us who get there at opening for the parts shopping, its just too long of a day. Last week I 'entered' my Westy just to have a close car to load parts into. If I parked, its $20 bucks just to get in and walk around. Really?? So many times I wanted to bring a group of friends and introduce them to the VW world, but not for that price. The drag racing was the only awesome thing there, thanks to Hodi's VW. You never met a more down to earth guy than Lou Hodi. If you are lucky enough to get an appointment with them, your VW couldn't be in better hands.
The vendors there are your typical down to earth, friendly and laid back VW enthusiasts who like to talk VW's just as much as selling parts. I never ever felt bad about haggling until this show. Many of them didn't even make enough money to cover their vending fee. I truly felt bad for these guys. I always thought of (and still do) think of VW's as the 'peoples car'. I walked the aisles many times and I guesstimate the highest valued vehicle there was a Ghia worth about 22k. This isn't the Frankfurt Motor Show for gosh sakes.

I write this with all due respect, its not my intention to be mean, I'm only being honest. I hope the changes stated above will consider changing venues or have a 'come to Jesus' with the venue. The Central Jersey VW society is like a fraternity of do-gooders. The all air cooled gathering and cruises are so enjoyable. I'm just quite surprised they are aligned with this facility. Anyhow, I just put it out there and gave you my humble opinion. Thanks for at least trying to re-tool this event; hoping for a better future. - Ron

				| I use to attend shows at raceway park. I think it's the venue that sets the pricing and it always came with extortion...you had to pay for every stupid thing they would dream up...use their staff, cooks, etc....
that said I won't go back to any event held there. use to do waterfest and shows like this...the fees were stupid and the shows were poorly run. again, I think the club hosting the event is tied to the race track's way of doing things, and there is little to no negotiation

				| Things WILL CHANGE in 2017. It will still be at Raceway Park.
It will be All Cooled Only.
It will be only one show for the entire year.

 Stay tuned.
We, the CJVWS are working right now to
return the show to its former glory.

You only have one more Show n Go in the
old format to put up with in October.

 Sorry you feel this way.

We at CJVWS are determined not to let another New Jersey vintage VW venue disappear.

We are focusing on positive change. We already are aware of the negative aspects of the current show but thanks for reminding us.

The track leadership failed to show due to a death in the family, not because they don't care - so please do some fact checking before blasting them on an open forum trying to strengthen your point. The truth is the ETown very much cares about air-cooled VWs and came to us with the idea for 2017 to allow CJVWS to do an all air-cooled event with CHEAPER ADMISSION, better promotion, racing, and a lot more. CJVWS is in complete control of the planning and organization next year from the music, parking, happenings, etc. All we can ask is that you all give the show until next year before writing it off. We have a lot in the works already!

				| CJVWS, since the englishtown show is going to be a once a year event now, any chance of ressurecting the atco show? one in the spring in one venue and one in the fall in the other? maybe an event at island dragway? the drive up is pretty nice.

I think I can speak on behalf of both the officers and members of the CJVWS and say that the chances of starting up ATCO again are slim to none. Also, we are not looking to run any more events that we already do. That said, we would support any other person or club that wants to introduce a new show in New Jersey.

				| CJVWS is working hard to make 2017 Air Raid at Englishtown better than shows in the past.
Bucky stated that changes we are all ready in motion. The fact is that the track is helping us save a show and make it better. Versus kicking us out for another Amish Tough Mudder.

If anyone else wants to host a show in the north east with a track be my guest.

wow, don't take it as an attack on your or your club...the flanders show is a great show.

I was led to believe years (early 2000's) that the track controlled EVERYTHING....back then swap spaces were small and very expensive, gate fees were stupid...I can remember shelling out over 100.00 before I could even get to my swap space.

hopefully you can change that and keep it going. but my last waterfest show in about 05 was the deal breaker for me. there was a lot of b.s. and the ends didn't justify the means

				| The Central Jersey guys fight their butts off to keep the air cooled stuff alive at Englishtown. It is not easy. Trust me, I know as I deal with RWP a lot. These guys took the torch and have ran with it the past years when others dropped it, held it for a year or left it for dead. You want to beat the Dubs in the Shrubs drum...do it somewhere else. Great show. Start a thread.

2017 will take some getting used to and it may be 1 or 2 years until the show really takes off and people get the bitter Etown taste out of their mouth. But it will flourish, trust me.

As far as Atco....there will be some VW racing ONLY held down there September 25 along with the v8 cars if anyone wants to cruise down and take a look. No car show. No swap meet. Not yet. But I will start a thread....
