hey,
i bought recently a seatframe for my 67 walk through, bechaus the bottom of the passenger side was not correct when i purchased the car.
i purchased it over Evam, item Looks nice, but if you want to use it, the springs are not nearly the same as on a original seatbase....
the Problem is, it is relly sloppy, so if you take a seat you will fall right to the walktrough area....
anyone else same experience?
what i did now is, i used and old seatframe and added 25springs to the Repro, and now it works as it should...

Crazy, what are you supposed to do just look at it? You sit down and it tosses you off. Sounds like a comedy skit for tv. That could be very funny but not when you need it to be a good seat. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. Are the springs attached directly to the bottom tubular frame? They should be attached to a flat metal frame then to the tubular frame. |

Seems downright dangerous! The seat base really needs to be unitized through cross bracing to keep it all intact. I always heard/used the term "spring pack" as the comfort/support part of the frame and the frame itself basically just provides the bones on which the spring pack rides. Without them being properly braced, the frame stays attached to the car in an accident- and the spring pack gives too much- likely allowing a passenger to possibly "submarine" their seatbelt.
I bet it's hell on upholstery. Sorry to be so critical- but I'm glad you improved it with your additional work. Great report on this frame. _________________

no, the springs are atached to a metal Frame, and the metal Frame is sitting on the seatbase...same style as original, but to less springs :-/ _________________ www.oval56.com

absolute correct... the improvement was the only way to make it safe and Keep the passenger on the seat.... if i had the choice, i would buy an original .... _________________ www.oval56.com

thanks for the update, would be fine if there will follow an update.
the main Focus should be the area of the left side to the walk through section and the rear edge _________________ www.oval56.com
