Just to be clear, "Static Converters" are not what Vanapplebomb, Brian, Modok and I are talking about. Nobody wants anything to do with those.
VFD's are what we are talking about. Newer, digital, lower price, great all around choice. _________________ [email protected] MPH 1/4 Mile & 8.1 @ 83.7MPH in 1/8 Mile with Mild Type 1 VW Mag Case 2234cc commuter engine in stock weight bug w/only .491 total lift(CB2292 Cam), 42x37 heads, 48idf's, Street tires, Belt on, Mufflers, Pump gas, video of the run here: https://youtu.be/M3SPqMOKAOg

picked up another project on friday. it's not bigger. but it's older.
'37 southbend 9 (not a or b, just 9 from what I can tell. probably workshop not junior but....still figuring.) 3ft bed. so ~~19" between centers. the perfect size for the space I dont have for it.......
gotta build a bench (the one that came with it was just a random), sort out belts, etc. but it's complete. and came with a truck load of tools, and _almost_ cost less than my facing head....... hasn't been run since '01.

A southbound 9 was my first lathe, and I wish I had not sold it. Parts and tooling were cheap and everywhere, and it fit pretty neatly in between other stuff in my shop. Honestly, 95% of what I need a lathe for could be done on that, and the other 5% needs the monster I traded up to.
Get it sorted and you will love it. _________________ modok wrote:

It is missing the lead screw end bearing. Hopefully it was not removed because the lead screw is bent. |

it's sitting on the bench behind it. I removed it to put the carriage on (nothing on the right was on it when I brought it home) - and it'll all come back apart to clean it and mount it to it's new bench. _________________ ...david - '66 SO-44 #231 |

I just noticed you are over on the South Bend site. That’s a good group of guys.
Here’s my little one. A 1947 Model A. I like using this for smaller work.
Here’s its bigger brother. 1959 SB13.
