|

Hello All,
I am missing the air cleaner pre-heat hose on my 1973 Super Beetle and the new tins do not have a hole for it. It is my understanding that this hose is to help warm the carb and prevent icing among other benefits, is there any reason why combining this with the air heater hose (using a "Y" joint) would not achieve the same end?
Thanks Again

The air from the heater hoses coming off the fan housing isn't warmed until it goes through the heater boxes, so it won't provide any "preheated" air in your theoretical setup. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

Mainly the potential for carburetor icing, under certain conditions. It’s not super common, but I’ve seen and/or experienced it once in a while on old carbureted engine cars and trucks, where carb preheat components had been removed or were otherwise inoperative. _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle — fairly stock / driver
