Thread title doesn’t say has to be on the road, so went to IWM Duxford to take airplane pictures, the only picture I took was this.

Don’t know anything about it but it looks like a real kubel.
Someone here will no doubt have the low down.

looking on the imperial war museum site they have this under collections/item/object and I assume it is the car pictured above:-

Second World War German 4x2 light-weight utility vehicle, with capacity for driver and three passengers, powered by air-cooled flat-4 petrol engine.
History note
A data plate acquired with the vehicle indicated that the vehicle was constructed in 1942. However,recent research suggests that this plate is a replica, and ID stamped on the vehicle indicates it was built in February 1945.

This car has been on the VW scene almost as long as I can remember (40+ years), and nobody ever thought it was the 'real deal' in the 1st place. The passage of time doesn't make it any more correct, even if it is a nice looking car.
