Guys,
I have recently noticed that my ice cream just isn’t right. Tonight I had some Breyers chocolate chip and it doesn’t taste right. I did so online investigation and found that the product is now called a frozen dessert. Apparently there isn’t enough dairy to call it ice cream. They’ve substituted some ingredients that don’t sound appetizing at all. Moral of the story is be careful what you purchase _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Sometimes when I get some sort of shake or ice cream from a fast food place. I don’t always finish it and leave it in the sink to melt. It doesn’t melt! Some of it does, but there a large blob usually left. Nasty. _________________ 1973 standard, yellow, lowered, 3” narrowed front, 1600 blo-thru turbo w/single dell 15.4@86, so far

Sorry for the political junk. I assumed that Breyers recently changed their ice cream but your post clearly shows it goes back as far as 2008. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

Looks like "frozen dairy dessert" is what used to be called "ice milk" in the 70s. Sucks to see Breyers cheapen their product. Reminds me of the "New Coke" bullshit in the 1980s.
There's no substitute for real goddamn ice cream without corn syrup.
And speaking of Coke... on the exceedingly rare occasions I drink a soda anymore, I get Mexican Coke from one of the Mexican markets here. It's made with real sugar still, unlike the shit sandwich version we get everywhere else.
Don't even get me started on turkey hot dogs. FML.
In better news, I was in Ohio this past September helping my mom out with some stuff and we went grocery shopping. I was beyond shocked shitless to find an old childhood favorite on the shelf that I have not seen or heard of in decades:
It was just as incredibly good as I remember. Maybe this will make your Breyer's Ice Milk with corn poison more palatable.
Out of curiosity... I Googled the OTHER childhood favorite that my grandmother always had on hand over in NJ, and by God... it's back!
It wasn't fortified with vitamins (whatever TF that means) in the 60s, though, I'll bet. In fact, it was fortified with tooth decay, at least according to my mom. I will order some and try it out sometime soon. Will I get lucky twice?
Damn, I guess I just missed these...

You are absolutely right! Many dairy products have taken this down hill slide in recent years. I suspect it's all about increasing profit margins. Not only is there no cream in ice cream anymore, I was looking at coffee cream the other at called "half and half". Since when is 10% butterfat half of 33% butterfat cream and 3.5% butterfat milk? Is this the new math! _________________ We had the stone age, the bronze age, the industrial age and now we are in the age of mass deception and mind control for corporate profit. Yes, Mexican Coke!
I used to drink Coke when I'd stop at the gas station and get a bottle form the machine. I liked it!
Then years later when I'd have a Coke it just tasted bad. I wasn't aware of the change from cane sugar to corn syrup. Then I had a "bottle Coke" in Mexico and was "Wow, THIS is what I remember!" and it was great!
Local Costco sells them in cases of 24. And the good Mexican restaurants have them on hand. |

During passover they make some soda with sugar since corn syrup is not kosher for passover.
Look for bottles with a yellow cap. _________________ Glenn

Good tip!
Corn syrup isn't Kosher for anyone, any time. Seriously. It's right up there with anything hydrogenated.
Years ago, I remember reading a study on the Information Superhighway that made a good case against fructose and corn syrup from a medical standpoint. The hypothesis was that where natural sugar had sort of a "time release" property to it, fructose and corn syrup hit the bloodstream all at once, causing two things- insulin overreaction which theoretically could lead to insulin resistance, and properties which caused one to feel hungry again quite soon after consumption. Thus, the theory goes, the substitution of fructose, corn syrup, or the Great Satan of high fructose corn syrup for real sugar could be the driver in the diabetes/ obesity spike we were beginning to see.
Either corn growers have great lobbyists or the info was flawed, but I have not been able to find that study again. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Your analysis of corn syrup is essentially correct. It’s dietitial cyanide for most everyone. The first one to put it into a product was the maker of Cranberry Cocktail as md he went public that in retrospect it was a terrible mistake. _________________ .ssS! |

All that shitty corn syrup is thanks to the “Good old days” thanks mom and grandpa for creating such shitty processed foods we all enjoy and get fat on. But hey, I can get a McDouble cheese burger and McChicken sandwich along with a medium Coke for $5.65 without leaving the car.
This is not new. This crap started when most of you/me all were kids. “Talking about the good old days.”

75% of calories consumed come from 6 companies and the food industry is driven by profits. so they want you to eat 'food' that is cheap to make and which will mess with your mind so that you will eat more and more of it. they dont care about diabetes or obesity they just want to make money... and the politicians let them do it. now they're pedalling pills to 'cure' obesity
if you haven't watched the first one I posted watch this shorter one

Fox's ubet is still made in Brooklyn since about 1900. I used to pass the building on my way to work every morning. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? High-fructose corn syrup entered the U.S. food chain on a massive scale around 1978, after a number of sugar cane-growing countries established a cartel to control sugar prices, much like OPEC. When cane sugar prices started to skyrocket, corn syrup was big agribusiness' response.
Unfortunately, corn syrup had the unintended side effect of nearly wiping out sugar beets as a cash crop in the U.S., as corn syrup was cheaper to produce and more tightly controlled as an industry.
I was going to college at the time the prepared food industry switched over to corn syrup. It took me years to figure out why my GPA dropped an entire point in one year. Our diet was high in carbs and my body cannot process fructose well, so I was pretty much a zombie until I graduated. I also learned caffeine does not counteract the effects of fructose. _________________ Thanks,

Doesn't really matter what you eat today, someone has published a study that proves it's killing you. We love to eat our own home grown vegetables and harvest deer, elk and moose.
We also make our own maple syrup but my sister tells me it will kill us and she has all the data to prove it! Well Sir, there are a lot of yellow bellied sap suckers, aphids and maple beetles around that tell me otherwise... so we are going ahead with our "suicide mission"... it's a sweet way to die!

I think I will have to get that a go when our maple tree matures. Just planted it earlier this year.
Can't beat fresh fruits and veggies, from your own yard or the farmers mart are both our first choice when the season allows. _________________ 71 Squareback, 1.7l T4 w/ crank trigger fuel and spark
