Would seem to be everytime I search the classifieds section there is a stray "looking for a lost VW" ad up. And I wonder, does the owner find their lost love? Are there any happy endings? Would love to hear everyone's stories, even if not the happy endings they had hoped.

I find myself curious for selfish reasons as well, my '73 Bay made its way overseas around 2009 or 2010. Lost connection with it and hope to imagine it's cruising the European Rivera!

Have you seen her? 1973 Bay Window Kombi, non walk through, originally a 9 seater.

I once owned a '65 Corvair Monsa turbo that was complete and ran but needed restoration. We fell on some tough times with a mortgage and two little kids, some guy came along and offered me pretty good money for the car and I sold it.

Yes I found it again... on top a pile of cars at the wreckers... completely stripped out...

I built this in the mid 90's and sold it in '99 when my first son was born due to priorities. I sold it on eBay to someone in Ohio for around $12k. I often wonder where it is now...

Ya, according to the reply I got from someone at the Corvair Club of America the only more desirable model is the same year, same options but in a convertible. That car would fetch north of $60 K today restored!

I sold my 78 westy to a client of mine who soon sold it because he was absolutely mechanically clueless and also his wife hated it. A few years later I went to a local club meet and parked my split bus next to a bay westy.......i was stunned when, after talking to the new owner, he showed me the inside--- and it was my old bus!
