Hi 1600 trike. I have an oil leak from one axle that covers my brake disc in oil. (Empi brake disc conversion done).
Despite rebuilding the hub several times with new seals, "O" rings and bearing. It still leaks. There also seems to be a little play on that wheel.
It has the long tubes fitted. Can anyone assist with ideas of why this keeps happening? Is there something else I should be checking or replacing?

Could be a crack around a bolt hole. If a swing axle could be between hub and axle.
Need a bit more info.

I haven't found any cracks anywhere. I have replaced both spacers, all seals and O rings. And the washer. There is something I'm unsure of, the axle has a little play (about 1 inch) back and forth within the tube, I don't know if that is normal.

If there is play in/out on the axle then something is massively wrong.
Talking swing axle......
the outer race of the bearing should be captured in the housing end. The brake bracket and gaskets shim the bolt on cap to the outside of the bearing. Should be zero move in and out of the outer race. If we it moves the o rings will leak.
The inner race is captured by the step on the axle, spacers, drum and super tight nut. Should be zero mover in and out of axle in inner race. If it moves the o rings will leak.
All of the in/out movement should only be the couple thousandths of an inch which is the ball to race oil clearance.

Problems I have had with swing axle disc brakes.

The caliper bracket too thick, leaves the outer race loose with smallish in out movement. O rings leak.

Seal kits with wrong thickness (diameter) o rings. O rings don't crush into the chamfer. Does not leave slack in/out, but does not seal.
