They're worth a small fortune. They were made exclusively for Arabian Sheiks to shuttle their harem from tent to tent without getting stuck in the sand.
Just kidding, of course. I've only seen a couple for sale before. Nothing to be able to judge a going price on. I would however put it in the same category as any other Non-Meyers-Manx kit car. Anywhere from $200-$2000 range, for a project. That one looks like it's on the upper end of the project spectrum. Looks pretty complete to me. _________________ OG JHC

yep, go figure, like always i paid to much..... actually its right on the money. it is 100% complete, or so sais the PO and i paid 2300. but it does have the engine that won the 400 MINT back in the late 70's early 80's. the historic value of the engine has to be worth something right??? i have a turbo engine sitting at home so the race engine will probibly go in the oval or deluxe. so i guess thats not that bad, a rare complete kit and a MINT 400 race winning engine, all for 2300??? _________________ These are not the New Old Stock parts you are looking for...

I think it's worth $2300 alone, just because of the looks you'll get going down the road. It is definitely unique.
Can't wait to see how it turns out. I've searched the net a lot just to find different buggies but have only seen that model a couple of times. _________________ OG JHC

Dick Dean is a legend in hot rodding, he was on the Monster Garage special awhile back with the other legends of kustoms. Post your project at www.VolkRods.com forums, I'm sure they'll all like it. Some may have more info on the kit as well.
I always like Shalakos myslef:

I haven't seen too many on the net, none in person. The name Scorpion is too common for kit cars, there's at least half a dozen with th same name, I'm sure there's a dune buggy with the same name as well. But I'm not too familiar with a Scorpion that loks similar to the Shalako myself. You may want to chek out the Dune Buggy books, there's a few good ones with good history of the hundreds of buggies made, should give you some info you're looking for. |
