And not including engine and tires, what adds up to a grand?[/quote]

Lysol for the toilet!

Where have you been man? The main shaft seal is now $1.25. That's some coin right there. Damn Kris, I never figured you to be the type to think you can get everything for cheap since it's a bus...

And you guys are the same ones that question why nice original or restored buses cost so much....it's not the car it's all the crazy prices for parts that every used parts salesmen on this site and at the swap meets charge the unfortunate people restoring or rubbing out the OG bus that missing a few bits.

DD, much sympathy for those guys, that have it rough.

Maybe it's time to focus on the bus that can be driven now. Get 'Rita' running so you have something to drive. Then you can get out of the house. Prioritize.

By the way, if someone had offered me $3k for a bucket of shit with a seat on it I would have taken the money. Hell, I would have even paid for overnight shipping out of my pocket :)

crofty Fri Apr 22, 2005 7:43 am

Yeah, except that his ad says 3k OBO + Shipping!! LOL You still gotta pay shipping!

You must have forgot, he has no license right now.

Josh, mskeen is right your priorities are very screwed up. I think it's funny when people have a collection of busses but can't even afford to get one of them on the road. I am a firm believer that one is not enough but come on use some common sense. My advice, sell Rita and put the money into the westy. $3000 for the can and you didn't even consider it, here's my opinion. :^o Hope your having a good day today.

but its so much cooler to have 2 bus you cant drive

i have to agree, if you're at one point where you need to sell part of a complete bus to repair it, it only means you cant afford it.

if you dont wanna sell Rita, sell the other one with a profit (so you can fix Rita)

thats the best idea that I have heard this whole thread.

Josh, its understandable that you are stressed out having to sell the crapper, but at least its not something cool like safaris. and which would you rather have, a running bus or a nice driveway display of a bus that doesn't run, but has the crapper.

last year? didnt he only have that bus for like.... 2-3 months?

EverettB Fri Apr 22, 2005 9:23 am

I agree that a trade might be the best thing for you.

You should be able to get what you consider is $1,011 in parts pretty easily.

cris torlasco Fri Apr 22, 2005 9:34 am

Josh, try to get creative with another solution to your problem (like a salary). Separating an original Westfalia accessory from your bus is a bad and irreversible idea, and you will regret it down the road, even if it is a "pooper"...
